In 1979 the Wings were just into the Deadwings phase of their history and couldn't pay people to come see them play. BTW, I was only 9 but I remember alot of things from back then....heck the Lions were even semi-decent!

Ah, the Deadwings years. I was in college then, myself. The Ted Lindsey as GM years. Sitting in the mezzanine at The Olympia Stadium.
Those were the days, even though the Wings were "rebuilding".

I am glad the Wings brought the Cup back to Detroit. My family is from the Detroit area (moved to St. Louis 5 yrs ago) and it's great to see a Detroit team win a championship.

I felt kind of guilty when the Cards beat the Tigers in the World Series back in 2006...
