Re: Any woman members on the Model Hangar ?

Normally, when my old lady starts asking me how much I spent on a particular plane, it tells me she is looking to rationalize a future purchase of some item for herself, or a past item that she knows I am about to find out about.

My wife is supportive of my hobby since she knows I buy most of my planes on sale (TM Sales)and I still spent less than she does most of the times on shoes and stuff.

My hobbies, Diecast and online aircombat sims, keep me home most of the time with her instead of out drinking and chasing skirts or something and she appreciates that because she has friends who's husbands do the latter.

So, in a nutshell, I almost never have to face "The Spanish Inquisition" from the wife regarding my diecast purchases.

Are you an Il-2 1946 fan, Gunslinger?

I bought IL2 1946 yesterday as I'm familiar with the original IL2 and the Pacific Fighters version - an awesome combat flight sim that is possibly the best of its genre currently available .

Oh, heck yeah, it's easily the best WWII 1946 flight sim out there -- far outpacing SWOTL.

Seriously, though: the whole Il-2 line is great. Now if Empire Interactive would just update and re-release MiG Alley, I'd be a happy flight sim camper...

That one is a winner, picked up awhile back and think it is the best out there.

Re: Any woman members on the Model Hangar ?

I only know of two female collectors. One, named "Jo", used to post relatively frequently on the AirlineBuzz forum. The other is an executive employee of Southwest who shall remain nameless. I don't think the second has ever participated in online forums.

The question might really be: How many female collectors are also diecast forum contributors? By my limited experience, and what these ladies have indicated, I'd wager that female diecast collectors are less fanatical about military stuff, and stick pretty close to the civilian side of things. I would also expect that they are more likely than their male counterparts to have a connection with the airline industry, either as employees, or as the child of an employee of one of the legacy carriers. In any case, with respect to forum participation, I know there are more female lurkers than active contributors (as with the men), but suspect that the ratio of lurkers to contributors is probably higher among the women members. (Of course, I haven't seen anything to indicate that there are any female form members around the MH.)

It is pretty much the only sim that I play around with. If they could fix a few little things in this game, I'd be so happy. But I must abide with what we got, which is already an outstanding product.

Some pretty neat flyable aircraft with this sim. Anything that lets you fly a Brewster Buffalo is fine by me.

Re: Any woman members on the Model Hangar ?

I hope it gets opened up for legally acceptable modding in the future. I can think of some maps and aircraft that are missing and sorely needed.

And somebody out there made a skin of my grandfather's P-51. That alone keeps me flying his aircraft...which explains why I am biased towards P-51Bs.

I would not mind seeing expansion to include early 1940 opening stages of war in Europe campaign.

I'd like to see a map of the Phillipines and the CATF operating areas of China.
