High oil price = high freight costs = expensive diecast

I was reading yesterday that the cost of shipping a standard 40ft freight container from Shanghai to the US East Coast has increased over the past 3-5 years or so from $3000 to $8000, forcing many companies to try and source goods locally. Eventually, these costs will filter down to goods such as diecast (if they haven't already) ...

I tell ya, that's why I'm buying as much as I can manage at the moment cuz the bubble's going to burst if this economy keeps up........ the days of $20 1:48 jets are numbered. At least that's what I'm telling the wife......

My reasoning exactly PappyB - make hay while the sun shines as the diecast 'bubble' is unsustainable ...
