The Ultimate "Will the Wife Notice" Test

So, I was out and about today on a photo safari, which just happened to take me into the same neighborhood as one of my favorite hobby shops -- R/C Country in Sacramento. Said shop just happened to have a good sale on its FM stuff that made it competitive with online prices, even the bay, for HTF models and heavies. So, I left with a B-17 909 -- I just couldn't help myself, and this way I actually got to look it over before plunking down the dough (again same price as the best I've seen online).

(If anyone's in the area they had the Angie and Testa Indiano P-47s for $55... the German Phantom (red one) for $80 and all pad-printed... and a few others. What's really cool is they had all the forts lined up so I could see them all "live" and pick the one I liked the best. It came down to General Ike and 909... Ike's scheme hid the ugly nose seam better, but was just not as visually interesting to me.)

I just got it home and set up in my office -- must say it looks quite nice. FM did a better job matching the faded green look of the 909 as flown right now by the Collings Foundation and FM actually uses all pad-printed graphics, no stickers -- unlike Corgi, which uses a sticker for the nose decal. (what a switch, eh?) If you've the room for it, it's a beaut! Really.

Photos later as I'm must too beat at the moment to be bothered (that thing is heavy and I did have to lug it up a flight of stairs )

No, the wife was gone when I did this -- coincidentally -- so I'm going to stay quiet about it and see if she notices it when she comes in my office. It's only a 12x15 room so how can you not notice a big green 1:48 7lb hunk of metal.... we shall see.

If she does notice, I may be in a bit o' trouble boys

(Even though I've kept to my one in the door, one out the door rule ).

Anyone in the market for a Corgi 909 -- let me know!

Well, Pappy, if you come up missing, we'll know to tell the police to ask your wife about it!

LOL! I appreciate the compliment but actually my strategy of simply numbing her into not noticing any more through sheer numbers is paying off..........

Sure, but when the B-24 didn't phase her.... I figured it was time to push the envelope!

Re: The Ultimate "Will the Wife Notice" Test

I look forward to the pics, Pappy. I've recently been eyeing a Corgi Bit O Lace, but that nose seam.... UGH! So I'd like to see the FM difference.

Suggestion... maybe she will notice less if you photo the model in her absence!

Both Corgi and FM Forts suffer from "nose issues" -- I will say the FM nose seam is less noticeable than the Corgi 909 though. (Corgi's has a horizontal gap that is better on some than on others -- FM has a vertical gap, better on some than others... )
