I Am A Changed Man ! Yesterday after much trepidation I purchased my first Hobby Master Brewster F2A-1 Buffalo. First of all I only collect 1/72 the only 1/48 I ever buy is WW1 stuff. This mantra changed with the announcement of HM's F3F's. Now I have seen an opportunity to get some very unique and colorful planes that also hold historical value. I will only get one Buffalo, and my choice was the red nosed USS Lexington bird limited to 1,000 pcs. I was never crazy about the looks of this stubby locust looking plane , but the colors, subject, and HM's attention to detail won me over. When C1's P-36 and HM's F3F's come out I think some collectors will struggle to backtrack to get pre-war stuff already out and also give pre-war birds some shelf space. I next plan on getting the FM pre-war SBD-1 with the silver and yellow scheme. To round this out, I will also be getting the C1 USS Ranger Wildcat the same one Easy Model did in 1/72. I am excited and proud to have another wing of my collection to add to and appreciate. The pre-war color schemes are eye catching to say the least, and even non-collectors seeing a bright and colorful collection will be forced to take note. Yes, after getting the Buffalo it changed me ,and made me have to figure out how i am going to pay for this new era. I invite you guys to think it over if you have not considered buying a Buffalo or any other plane in a pre-war scheme. I applaud Hobby master on a fantastic model. Thanks also to Big Guns Collectibles (phantom phan) for great sevice and pricing I have never been disappointed, he sees to that. On a foot note......................... I replaced some of my C1 Fokker Pilots with MB Fokker pilots because the C1 pilots just did not look right to me. last night I took a C1 pilot and painted him in US Navy 1940 flying uniform colors. I even painted a yellow mae-west on him. He now sits proudly in the HM brewster Buffalo with the canopy pushed back, and his elbow sitting up on the canopy rail enjoying the breeze as he waits his turn to take off from Lady Lex.. It is a perfect match! |
