Attention: Diecasts No Longer Produced!

From Hyperscale.Com:

"1) Franklin Mint is cancelling thier line of Armour die cast aircraft. They have decided to go another way. As of yet, no one has stepped forward to buy them out so for the near future, the Armour line of die cast planes will be lost, hopefully, not perminently.

2) Corgi has been bought out by Hornsby. They will be discontinueing the die cast line in the U.S. for now, maybe perminently.

So, if you collect any die cast from these two companies, get them while you can."

Re: Attention: Diecasts No Longer Produced!

Strange, I didn't see anything like this on the Hyperscale website.

I could see Franklin Mint rethinking future possibilities for the Armour line since it is extremely risky to keep putting out new molds in 1:48th scale for an already saturated market. Why they don't revert to 1:100 and start doing planes like the B-47, B-36, Betty, SM-79, etc mystifies me. As for Corgi, if they continue their AA line, as their new owners have told us, it makes no sense to abandon the largest market in the world.

It's on the hyperscale forum I see.

I think someone is trying to 'yank our chain' - apologies if that's not the case ...

Re: Attention: Diecasts No Longer Produced!

I found where this was posted on Hyperscales forum and it is from a forum member, NOT AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT, so, I will keep this on the back burner and await the official statement from Franklin MInt.

Re: Attention: Diecasts No Longer Produced!

If this is true it is VERY bad news to me. Corgi and Armour started this hobby just over 10 years ago. It looks like Hobby Master is picking up the slack!
