Somebody's out to make a profit.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but has anyone looked on Ebay for the recent Corgi models sold by Tuesday Morning? It looks as if a bunch of dealers snapped up these models and put them on the bay for moderate starting bids and regular price buy it nows (especially for the Hackls). Granted, people should be able to make a profit, but I feel bad for those that were not able to find the models they wanted at a decent price (such as myself) because dealers or sellers snatched them up to make a quick buck. Just some thoughts and frustration.

Re: Somebody's out to make a profit.

Hey, I don't blame them -- the dealers are probably jsut listing their stock to take advantage of the "craze" ... I doubt they went out and found 'em to post them on ebay, dealers that is. Wouldn't be worth their time.

I think most average joes that scooped these up to make a quick turn will be disappointed with the results, but who knows.

That could be true. Didn't think of it that way.

Re: Somebody's out to make a profit.

I still remember seeing that stack of 6-8 Corgi Memphis Belles at The First Tuesday Morning Sale -- $29 each, some missmarked at $19.99...I left 'em all there as I already had one and was short on cash. I sure was kicking myself for not buying 'em all when they were going for $200+ on ebay not too long ago. That's a lot of zinc fundage.

I don't think there's much in this round that will be much of a commodity though... perhaps the Hackl way down the road... but you could probably make a quick $10-20 on it I suppose.

I is keeping mine

I got my 1st Memphis Belle from that sale also, although I got the only one. That was a huge deal back then (and now) and the recent sales pale in comparision.
I will be keeping my Hackl also, but I think it will be due a repaint to fix those awkward wing crosses and overly dark fuselage.

I guess it depends on which side of the buck you’re standing on, brunowbe.

If I were a collector waltzing into a Tuesday Morning, fully expecting to buy, say, a Corgi PBJ; but some jerky vendor had just purchased the entire stock, I’d wanna kill. I’d want to hunt the guy down and ring his neck.

If, on the other hand, I were that vendor, I’d be slapping myself on the back for making off with those PBJs.

Personally, I’d much rather see a bunch of guys buying models at knock-down prices than one man hording them for profit; but that’s capitalism. That’s the way things are.

Have you all also noticed that many of these TM Ebayers are stealing pictures that are Tricatus' (all the cloud gallery images) or other online retailers we know.
Seems hoarding models is not the only thing that is gonna tick off our little collecting community today.

Harry, what's the issue with the wing crosses -- position?

Well, I guess it can go both ways. Say, your at a local Tuesday Morning and there isn't any die-cast collectors in the area. You see 1 or 2 Corgi PBJ's (B-25's) or maybe even 5. Even though you bought the same one last year for $65 or whatever from your favorite dealer or on ebay, do you buy one or all of them? Or just let them sit on the shelf there. I see nothing wrong with buying the one or all 5 and resell them or trade them for other aircraft you may want. At my local Tuesday Morning yesterday they one had ONE PBJ and the Corgi 1/32 109 Hackl. I already had the PBJ but for the price you just had to buy it and for the same price the Hackl 109. I don't collect 1/32 scales but she's a beauty and I will trade or resale it. So am I a greedy dude? No, I am not. I purchased the only one they had and not a case of them. Plus with all the new items due out this year, you have to help play for the new issues somehow. The wife wouldn't mind as much either.
