Re: Flyboys Starts Tonight

I just got back from seeing it and it really was way better than I expected and I expected it to be good...my girlfriend even made a comment about liking it and I didn't even have to ask

Re: Flyboys Starts Tonight

I saw it on opening nite with my wife. To my surprise, she said she really liked it. For her to say that about a war movie almost made me fall over in shock! (I think it was because there's no sex, nudity, little if any profanity, and the violence is not overly done - meaning no slow motion views of blood and guts splattering over the camera lens type of stuff.) As others have said, good for the whole family.
Saw it again last night with my two sons - enjoyed it as much as the 1st time.
I did notice as the 5 Nieuports are appearing out of the fog, a couple of them had visibly bent upper wings - the ultra-lights. At least when the main character Rawlings picked his personal plane he had the sense not to pick one of the ultra-lights. . . .

A question for those of you who might have knowledge in this area: in one seen Beagle is singing the praises of the new Fokkers, and mentions that they have "twin 9mm Spandau machine guns." By 9mm, I'm wondering if the machine guns only fired the 9mm pistol cartridge - or was it a 9mm (.36 caliber) rifle style cartridge?

And no - those Fokkers were not flying Messerschmidts!

The Fokker Dr.1 has twin Spandau 7.92mm machine guns.
Not 9 mm as stated in the movie.
