Tokyo Raid

66 years ago today the Doolittle Raiders flew into history! Here is a pic of Ed Horton and Dick Cole from last years WOH airshow with Lone Star Flight Museums B-25 shortly before taking a flight.

My small tribute

Re: Tokyo Raid

I recently found a new hardcover version (I hate paperbacks) of Ted Lawson's "Thirty Seconds over Tokyo".
I don't know that I would have lived through the journey that he and his crew endured after their crash.
Those fellows were true heroes.

Re: Tokyo Raid

WWII vets are getting fewer and fewer. I remember the Tokyo Raiders having a reunion in Albequerque in the early 1980s and I was able to get General Doolttle's autograph.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Tokyo Raid

If any of you guys love the B-25, buy the Corgi AA35302 B-25 Mitchell 'Doolittles Raider'. The bomber's monotonous olive-green topside is a little fatiguing, but the plane signifies American military prowess (and genius ... and guts ... and boldness ... and daring ... and ... and ... and ...). So I highly recommend it. While you're at it, buy Corgi's other B-25s. You'll love 'em.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: Tokyo Raid

I have the FM version of this plane and have been looking for an excuse to pick up the Corgi version. Perry's has an outstanding price on this one!
