Re: UK Trip

Dudly's quite a way-away from Stratford. Might work if you get it sent to your hotel, or a contact at work, but then you cannot get the VAT deduction, as for this you have to buy it in person.

Thanks for the additional info', Timbo. I figured he'll use a car though, as he's mentioned Cosford.

I was thinking along the lines of a GA P-51 Princess Elizabeth or a Spirt of Kent Spit. A Lancaster is a little too steep (and bulky) for what I was thinking...

So if I purchase something on-line from the USA but have it shipped to a UK address, I pay VAT and UK shipping?

I'm a little wary of driving on the wrong side of the road...That's all I need is a fender bender overseas!

It's good fun mate you'll enjoy driving on the 'right' side of the road !!!!!!!!!!

Buy that POTR model & you'll join an 'Exclusive' club (others will be jealous ! = me included, as I've yet to get mine !)

I've been told at the local (English) Post-Office that something small like those GA planes won't cost much.

Apparently, Carol (the 'Postmistress') said...."it's only once it goes above 2 kg that it becomes expensive to ship across the Atlantic"

Almost every stockist sells GA stuff.......... NOT SO the POTR model, (which is why it's so sought after).

Does a pic' of the real-deal tease ya ?

Yes if mailed to a UK address you will pay VAT. To get the VAT exemption you have to pick it up in person, and get a signed and stamped VAT claim back form form the dealer. This is what you get endorsed by customs at heathrow when you leave.

Driving's not that bad. The only problems I have when switching is if I'm the only car on the road. Have found myself driving down the wrong side on several occasions due to the lack of visual cues!!!

Ooops!
