Land Rover / Jaguar gone TATA

Ford has sold Land Rover and Jaguar divisions to Indian manufacturer TATA.
TATA makes really cheap trucks, should be an interesting mix.

Re: Land Rover / Jaguar gone TATA

Could this mean some Defender 110s for the US market? I would grab one in a minute with some special modifications.

Defenders are used by farmers this side of the pond.
They are the best off road vehicle if you want a real workhorse, strong as old boots and easy to repair.
They dont have any fancy computer stuff that can go wrong. All you need is a big hammer and a few spanners and the Defender will last you a lifetime.

God Bless America.

I had an interview with the state of New York a few weeks ago. Some legally blind guy got the job, though.
Who knows, I may get another call from them shortly...

Re: Land Rover / Jaguar gone TATA

At present, the Defender does not reach the safety requirement for the USA, and only small batches of specially modified (and very expensive) vehicles have been sold there in the past. A replacement vehicle will almost certainly be designed to be legal in America.
