| Attention New Collectors Hi, I just wanted to start a thread so I would not appear to be hijacking another similar thread. New collectors and those who did not have the chance a few months back need to hurry and get their pre-orders in for the latest Century Wings F-14 Tomcat announced. This model will be in the popular and coveted VF-84 "Jolly Rogers' scheme. If you hesitate even for a couple of weeks you may find yourself without the chance of getting one as I would dare to speculate this is the last release of it's kind. If you are unaware of the present situation regarding the VF-84 Jolly Rogers F-14's they are prized and come in 2 configurations a launch configuration with fixed wings and the landing gear in a lowered or "kneeling" position simulating a launch configuration and the regular configuration with wings that swing open and closed and the landing gear is normal. There are other beautiful Century Wings F-14's available, but the Jolly Rogers appear to reign supreme as far as popularity and carry a highly visible paint scheme. No joke I would implore you to order yours now because since the first releases many new collectors worldwide have come to know Century Wings as the leader in 1/72 modern military jet models. If you just want one because you like it or want to buy a few to re-sell or trade later these models will eventually disappear and be very expensive to get on the secondary market. I know from experience and want to save the new collector the agony by giving them a heads up. I am buying more than one so that later I can help fuel my growing love for this hobby. They are good looking, made well, and are the best yet available. Find your favorite retailer and place your order today. 1,000 pieces world-wide or U.S wide means there are fewer models than there are collectors so hurry don't be the tail-end charlie! ORDER YOURS NOW YOU WILL HAVE ABOUT 5 MONTHS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PAY FOR IT. $69.99 is cheap compared to what I or any one else will offer one for down the road. Supply and demand it's the "joy" of collecting. | |||||||||||||

I don't know, Louie... at only 1,000 pieces, VF-41 Black Aces is more rare and may trump Jolly Rogers as the most coveted CW Tomcat. I wish I hadn't passed on it while it was still at retail.

| Re: Attention New Collectors Wow Louie, you are really jacked up about the new Tomcat. I'm glad you're finally getting one.........er............four of them. I would order one, but modern aircraft and jets aren't my thing (only jet I have is a ME-262). Still, congrats on finally being able to acquire them. Aikens still has one of the earlier models of the Jolly Roger, fixed wing in landing/takeoff position though. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Attention New Collectors At the very least one of those two will battle for the top spot - I (will) have both so I can later decide which I want to keep as my single representative of the F-14. I said I'd never move beyond WWII until CW came out with my beloved Tomcat - but then I had to have a Phantom since I grew up in awe of them flying over my house and then the A-10s that flew over the house and then the A-7 because.... well, it was cool. It never ends but you can't go wrong with either of the two you submit as the most desired Louie/Elmer. Now then, back to my focus on toy soldiers...... until the next must have model. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Attention New Collectors that's funny fly. I am a salesman and I guess it shows through pretty often. I guess I am just trying to be sure that all the guys that really wanted one go ahead and take it seriously that these are going to go FAST. I also want folks to know that I have a few extra because just like FM 262's and FW-190;s I made sure to get more than one for investment purposes. When the supply is gone the demand will cause the price to skyrocket. Please know I will keep mine for a minimum of one to two years before the possibility of trades or sale. I opened my big mouth and said how many i was getting and just want to avoid the late guys making me feel horrible when they start PM'ing me for an extra. That is why I am stressing to all get them ordered now price should not be a deterrent as they are months and months away. Take this seriously as there are dealers with spending power lining up to get multiples for the same reasons. There are many members on here with multiples of the previous JR F-14's and although the poor guys had to deal with my agonized wails of wanting one I really do not blame any of them for holding on to their extras because let's face it, we want to turn 1 plane into 2 or 3 if we can this hobby is a very expensive "rich man's" hobby. At least motorcycles and golf clubs see some sort of use. So again get them while you can because mine will be off the market once they arrive at my doorstep. I am really out of money to spend on this hobby. I am at the point of having to sell models I have and want (but perhaps not enough to keep) to keep upgrading to better quality models that are coming out. It is tough. Seems alot of you feel the same because frankly In my several years as a MH memebr I have never ever seen the market place so swollen with stuff for sale or trade. We are all so price conscious that we have to practically give a model away at or below cost to get any of the money we spent on it. I am not complaining merely making an observation. I want to offer stuff here more but I seem to get top dollar on the bay although I hate paying the fees. If I have a multiple auction with the seller fees it seems like it becomes sell 5 models and get your money back on 4! We need e-bay and the giant humming machine called e-bay knows it and is relentless with the fees. I'm starting to ramble but it is my thread after all. Guys wheel deal or sacrifice if you don't want to be sorry later. get at least one while they are still for sale under $200. If Parsig sells his for $150 I won't be surprised. He will be the first of many. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Attention New Collectors I'd be surprised if these are as wanted as the first JR Tomcat, as I see it, the only thing Century is doing is devaluing the first release by making another round.. On the plus side, people who missed out will get theirs, but don't expect them to be as collectible.. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Attention New Collectors
Yup if they do become "collectible", first editions will always garner a higher price in the aftermarket. Maybe we will see the first ones being sold as collectors keep this new second edition for themselves and make a profit from the first ones.

| Re: Attention New Collectors Honestly I wish FOV would announce they were doing one hinges and all so I could save the money. But in case that dream never happens I will buy some to hopefully invest and see what happens. I normally don't buy to invest but this will be my experiment. I did well with the Flying mule stuff up until the P-40's came out what a bust they were although the models were nice. | |||||||||||||
