| What level of accuracy do collecters want? Just curious as to what most folks want as far as accuracy in their diecast models. Is close good enough or do most collecters have a certain level of detail they are looking for? | |||||||||||||

| Re: What level of accuracy do collecters want? When I bought my first 1/72 JEJ Spit I quickly followed up with the Golden Hawks sabre. My criteria then was it is as good or better than I could build. Still the basic factor in my buying, plus the fact that I am now too lazy to build models. Off the shelf ready to display fairly good representations of the actual aircraft works for me. | |||||||||||||

I'll accept any model as long as it does not have a glaring-me-in-the-eye error! I won't take it if the inaccuracies drive me nuts from just looking at how bad it is. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: What level of accuracy do collecters want? Well I started with the Matchbox planes. For the money these days, it had better pretty darn good. Gemini has hit the mark with Mustangs, HM is doing great with their stuff. Corgi is a hit miss thing as far as I can see. Dragaon is MIA as of late. I only have one IXO and FOV, but thats not saying a whole lot. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What level of accuracy do collecters want? Accuracy is really important to me but I'll take anything if it is the best available and better than IXO's quality level if the model fills a gap in my collection. I have only bought IXO's Japanese WWII models since for some reason they are fairly decent compared to their other models. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What level of accuracy do collecters want? I base levels of accuracy on price range comparable to scale.. If I pay $150 for a 1/72 plane, I expect it to be close to perfect. For a $30 1/72 mass produced plane, I am much more lienient and can overlook more obvious errors.. I think we should keep in mind that mass produced diecast is made by hourly employees (on both ends of the manufacturing process) who typically don't know much about the product they make.. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What level of accuracy do collecters want? If there is a choice between two or more manufacturers, then the shape needs to be correct, as well as the color and markings. I canceled my Corgi P-51B pre-orders after Missouri Mauler because the nose and canopy were wrong. I bought 5 Gemini P-51Bs. I passed on the Gemini Johnson and Gabreski spits due to the wrong green, but have the Plagis, Buerling, Kent and Hornet. (Well, sure. The Hornet has the wrong green, but I'm a sucker for clipped wing Spits. )If only one company make it, then I'm stuck if I really want the type. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What level of accuracy do collecters want? I'm expecting my birds to be reasonably accurate at least. Minor stuff I can over look, or probably won't notice since I'm not a modeller and don't examine each bird looking for flaws. (Not meant as a swipe but you hard core modeller look at thing vastly differently than I do.) Basically, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it works for me. ![]() | |||||||||||||
