| Re: Newray 1/72 SR-71 is it junk? I know this is going to make me sound like a dismissive jerk, but the more tired I get, the more careless I am - so here goes...I just don't think that NewRay even qualifies as a manufacturer of models, and in fairness, they don't even purport to be. They are known as New Ray Toys and the very first line in the description of themselves on their website goes like this: 'New-Ray Toys Company Limited is a Hong Kong-based company, specializing in the design and manufacturing of die-cast and plastic toys'. If there is any doubt as to whether these can be considered anything other than toys (and I do mean toys), I refer you no further than the piccy I posted in my previous post. I don't even know that there could possibly even be any sort of legitimate debate on this one. So in answer to the question 'Is it junk'?.......If you're looking for a model of an SR-71, then yes, it's junk...If you're looking for a toy that suggests the spirit of an SR-71, then.....well, it's still crappy junk but at least ya know it is.... Class dismissed.... | |||||||||||||

| Re: Newray 1/72 SR-71 is it junk? This is what has been serving as my "Blackbird fix" for the better part of the past ten years....It's made from Philippine mahogany in 1/72nd scale, and according to the tag on the bottom of the stand I paid $83.00 for it at the Strategic Air and Space museum in Ashland, Nebraska...It's one of the nicer wooden SR-71 models I've seen. ![]() | |||||||||||||
