Top bid on eBay so far on this tin model is $700. Who will top that?

Not bad for a tin toy.
Good shape, does it come with its box?

There must be a market for those items. I just have no idea what it is.

There is a huge, world-wide market for German and Japanese tin-plate toys. German tinplate with chromolithographic colouring dates from the 1890s onwards. Japanese tinplate dates from the 50s onward.

They have a huge fanbase. Toys which cost pennies in 1900 sell for big bucks now. Really 'posh' toys of early cars and ships can fetch thousands.

Japanese robots, planes and cars from the 50s sell for 100s of $. They have a naive charm which is very appealing.

The B36 (?) is a bit disquieting though.......probably Japanese, and certainly an atomic bomber. Irony or what ?

I can certainly vouch for that.
My Brother has a ASTOUNDING collection of this stuff that is NOW worth a small fortune. He started collecting well before the market went crazy. I just love the way he has it all displayed too. Looks like what one would envision if the Smithsonian (love THAT place!) had a section devoted to 'Japanese Tin-Toys in America'. (BTW: You Americans are SO lucky to have the Smithsonian -- I am extremely envious!!!)

That B-36 is a cracker, alright, but you should see his minty-mint large scale B-58 Hustler. Lights and all. Wow!! What a cold-war beaut!!

Thanx for bring this to the forefront, Epapazian!

I have no interest in these "tin toys'. I know they are very old but not for me. I would sell it on ebay.

I would not pay $7 for it - to me it's a childish looking piece of junk - but each to their own!
