Talking Re: Would you more inclined to buy a plane signed by an Ace?

Well, let's see here -- if I could get a Corgi Lanc or Mossie signed by Guy Gibson, a Hurri by Bader, a Halifax by Leo Cheshire I think I'd pay a good dollar for that. But since they are no longer with us, I guess I am pretty well pooched.

Now that said, I understand that Don MacIntyre is still living. He is the RCAF pilot of the famed Corgi W1048 Halifax Mk II that crashed on the frozen Norwegian lake after a run to the Tirpitz. The model is sitting on my desk. Perhaps I should look him up!

Re: Would you more inclined to buy a plane signed by an Ace?

I have books signed by
Ensign George Gay
Pappy Boyington
Everett Alvarez
Taylor prints signed by
Johnny Johnson
Bader
Galland
Morgan
Reid.

The books were signed to me at various airshows
Johnson signed his print at the Hamilton Airshow in 1981
The other prints came signed.
I would not pay a premium for signatures on diecast but I do buy books if the author is signing.

Re: Would you more inclined to buy a plane signed by an Ace?

I only have two signed items, and both are Robert Taylor prints. Have The Abbeville Boys with Adolf Galland's signature and Swan Song with Gunther Rall's signature. I would like to get some more, but they sure are pricey.

Only if it was the most important "ACE" I know. The one true ace. The Diecastace, Pappy himself!

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

Yes I agree! Only question is, does crayon work on diecast metal?

Hey now, trex, I think you have your Model Hanger II members confused....we're taking Pappy here, not Tank Nut!

Now Captain, we all know Tank Nut doesn't use crayons....not to write with anyway. Suzy took his crayons away because he kept eating them and making a right colorful mess in the potty..............

LOL -- now that would push the model well out of the range of affordability for most collectors!
