Zinc=Money?

Is it possible in the hard cruel world that our diecast collections are now worth more for their scrap zinc value?

Unless, of course, you're talking about melting down your Corgi P-51 collection to sell, that is... right Skunk?

If this ever is the case, might want to buy up all that bargain bin Franklin Mint you can find!

Re: Zinc=Money?

If the diecasts were made of copper, they might be worth more now for their metal. We've had a rash of over half a dozen thefts in the last six months here in Wichita where theives strip the copper wiring out of the light poles at local schools and ball fields. It's cost the city/county hundreds of thousands of dollars so far. OUCH!

If you've got an old house that still has copper pipes, it's type to pull 'em out and switch to the PVC. Ka-CHING! $$$

But, SB...people in Wichita will steal anything...The only time in my life that I ever had someone break into my vehicle was in Wichita. They busted out my window, and the only thing I had in there was an empty sippy cup - and they took it.

Re: Zinc=Money?

It's not only Witchita that has copper theft, here in southern NH they not only hit empty homes but we went thru a spat of stolen man hole covers...worth about 6 to 8 dollars at salvage, I'll never be able to afford diecast at that rate.
