Global warming my 4th POC

I just spent the coldest day on the range in Georgia after being here 4 years. I was actually reminded of my experiences in Denmark near the north sea coast during an exercise. So where is all this global warming ???? This had to be in my top five coldest experiences in the Army after 19 years.

Re: Global warming my 4th POC

Good point, it was pretty flippin' cold today in the South...I saw the temperature on the Weather Channel at 11:00am and it was cooler here, Alabama, than in Boston!

Re: Global warming my 4th POC

Global warming not only means warmer temps, it also means colder temps in some climates.. I watched a special on it on the Discovery Channel that said Global warming can have the opposite efffect and throw us into another "mini" Ice age.. Wouldn't that be fun???

Re: Global warming my 4th POC

So the Discovery Channel is in essence admitting that climate is cyclical??!!

One day well look back and realize we've been played, just like with acid rain in the '80's.

Not getting into the whole "Global warming" debate, but like you, I think it is kinda funny that even though we have only been keeping accurate records for the last 100 years or so, scientists have determined that we are in a Global warming pattern caused by pollution.. I guess no one ever really considered the fact that we were on the backside of an Ice Age and the Earth is naturally going to get warmer..
I just think it is too early to make dire predictions on the Earth's future when we've only studied a minut fraction in its timeline..

Re: Global warming my 4th POC

Well, I don't want to get into the argument on either side as well but I think to dismiss the implications of industrialization out of hand is a mistake. Why do we encourage our children to study science if we don't want to listen to the discoveries they present? It wasn't so long ago that flight was seen as a pipe dream to be dismissed out of hand. I am open to new ideas - as I know my fellow forum members are as well - so I plan to listen to the debate and try to be a bit more friendly to the environment when able.

Now then, the "mild" winter the promised us in Kansas continues to see the greatest snowfall in 20 years and butt-cold (20 and below temps) for the last few months has made me pile on the layers so I'll put my gloves back on and leave the typing to those in warmer climes.

Re: Global warming my 4th POC

Here in Orlando, Florida we have had a above normal "winter". Back in November, the weather was actually warmer than the month before. December was on the warm side overall as well. January was around average but some days in the 80's and one day it was up to 88 degrees even!

I know I've been freezing my butt and shoveling snow for far too long this Winter.

Talking Re: Global warming my 4th POC

Guys -- Global Warming and Climate Change, don't necessarily mean you are going to get a balmy winter with palm trees (and free drinks with those little umbrellas). What it ACTUALLY means is the world's oceans are heating up and the polar ice caps are warming/melting as a result. The result of this action we are going to experience dramatic, unusual, or violent weather during this period.
