What do you think? Did Roger Clemens take Steroids?

It looks like the new "evidence" at today's hearing nailed Clemens, despite the efforts of those GOP stalwarts to discredit his accuser.

We have other things to worry about in this country..
But i did vote...You have to be a nut not to know what someone is ejecting you with when you get the shot and
on the other hand the person giving you the shot could also be lying to you..

I remember talking to a friend of my Dads years ago who raced horses and asking him about whether or not he ever shot his horses up to get 'em to run faster.

He told me that that was very serious and you could only do that if they were bleeders.....

I asked, "So how many of them are bleeders?"

He said, "They're all bleeders buddy!"

I am rather conflicted on this topic as I am a lifelong Red Sox fan. The love-hate experience with "Rahjah" is rather intense as a Sox fan. On the one hand he had his "untainted" years with Boston and exited on less than positive terms. On the other, his "tainted" years included his service to the Yankees which would seem to taint them by association. At the end of the day, I am bummed it is even a question because his work ethic is well documented - he was a horse. It isn't inconceivable - as he would have us believe - that he would dip into the magic mojo trough to maintain his edge as he was a competitor that would seek any advantage.

With that being said, I think he juiced when he joined the Yankees and realized his soul was forever damned.

There was a recent article on ESPN.com by one of their regular contributors. It might have been Jim Capel, but I apologize that I don't recall. Anyway, the gist of the article was about him going to a week long fantasy camp with the Twins. The friendly rivalries, the competitive sportmanship and general can-do spirit all kicked in during the week of play, along with the MASSIVE pain of getting bumped, ground down and worn out. All the players went through that pain and the authors shoulder was throbbing so bad at one point that when one of his teammates handed him a couple of pills, he didn't even look or ask, he just chewed and swallowed.

It never occured to him until minutes later that for all he knew, he had just taken something illegal. (It wasn't.)

The point being, this writer was so focused on getting ready for the next game that he would have done anything to kill the pain and perform. This was without games on the line during a Sunday night broadcast, a post season or world series birth at hand or a $10M paycheck.

I'll admit the article was of a rosy nature and spend considerable time talking up the joys of the game, but I was taken aback by his comment and pill popping, so to speak.

Does this mean that I believe Clemens is innocent? Not entirely. The Mitchell Report is pretty damning and way to many players have come out to say, in effect, you caught me.

Conversely, can I believe that a player trying to prove himself, as Clemens constantly does and especially after his departure from Boston would say, "Stop the pain, I'm making my next start." and take whatever was offered? Yeah. Would he keep doing it over the years without knowing what was going on? Less likely, but I can believe it happened once.

I think the question should be "Why is congress wasting their time (which = our money) pursuing this matter?"...Is this the most important thing they really have to do?...Our economy's in the dumps, we're mired in a war in which we seem to have no way out, and there are people out here who are literally having to make a choice as to whether they want to eat or keep their houses warm, and they act as though somehow the matter of Roger Clemens and his alleged use of steroids is a threat to our health, welfare and national security.

They don't even plan to take any action if they do find what they're looking for! (what would they do?)..This is the exact same dog and pony show they put on a few years back with Maguire, Sosa and Palmera, and nothing came out of that witch hunt either...

What is this obsession they seem to have with going after overpaid, fat, spoiled prima donnas?..Could it be that they just want to take our minds off the fact that some six and a half years after 9/11, Osama bin Laden is still running around free out there, and this will make us feel as though they're working hard doing something to keep us safe?

I just don't get it....

Very good point you have there skunky, people are going homeless and some people can not afford to eat. And if they do prove that he did ( and no doubt he did) this guy is at the end of playing days and has more money then most people will see in a lifetime and does not have to worry about anything. Major league baseball should be the ones wasting the money on finding out what players are doing what, and leave it at that.

Maybe it's just the nerds getting their revenge on the jocks. As angry as the interviewing Congressmen seem to get, I find it reasonable that, for some of them, there is something personal burried way down there where only they know. Wounds from childhood maybe?

Why get so animated if it's just a show? Reminds me of how mad Bobby would get at Hoffa....

If Clemens had kept his yap shut after the Mitchell report was published, I doubt that the farce we witnessed on TV this Wednesday, would have happened.
