Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

Not sure yet. My preference is steering more over to Obama than anyone. There is something about Hillary that I find false and over managed.

I have to say that I do not naturally gravitate toward the republican party, but McCain is the one candidate that I would possibly go for. I really like his no-bull style, and he has proved in the past he can build bridges over the party divide, which is one thing this country desperately needs.

Not that I have a say anyway - Still have 2 years to wait till I can apply for Citizenship.

Ooops!

Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

We have a three, sometimes four party system up here in the great white north which I don't particularly like as the dear leader does not receive a majority vote.

Remember Ross Perot and Clinton!

As to Free Health Care, be careful for what you wish for.

The money has to come from somewhere, its either higher taxes or you can say goodbye to some of your aircraft carriers, submarines and air wings.

Also means that they cannot do things without broad consensus - such as go to war!!!

Nothings free, but at the moment we're payng an absolute fortune to those theiving insurance companies - guess that's where the money can come from!

Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

"SICKO"[/i] and it will get you mad at both the Republicans and Democrates. The terrorists held at the Navy base in Cuba has better health care than the average US citizen and they don't even have to pay a penny. There is 1 doctor for every 4 terrorist inmates. Go figure. YOUR tax money hard at work...as usual for other non-Americans and enemies of the USA.

Now don't go getting excited on the medical coverage. Military doctors are not always the sharpest pencils in the box. And just how do make a prisoner pay for his costs? Lastly, if we didn't treat the SOBs we never hear the end of that either!

Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

This is an interesting thread to a Brit,

I cannot comment as to who would be best as a president because I would speak from a position of ignorance (although its never stopped me before) not having lived in the US.
As an outsider looking in I have to say that the US seems to have a similar problem that we in the UK have and thats the acute shortage of what I call real statesmen and women.
There are thousands of politicians all waiting to get their noses in the trough but where are the real visionarys?
Where are those that want to give something back and serve the people?

We dont have any of those type of people this side of the pond anymore which is very sad.
Corruption seems to be the name of the game these days and bare faced lying is the order of the day.

I have watched and listened to the candidates for the presidency of the greatest nation on earth and to be open and honest I dont see anyone of them fits the bill.
I think the American people deserve better than whats on offer.

I just hope that who ever gets elected will knuckle down and fight to preserve what is good and try to protect the USA and indeed the west from all that is bad and evil.

God Bless America.
