Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

Or maybe we just say goodbye to a certain war that's costing billions -- certainly don't want it to go on for another 100 years...

McCain is outta touch with reality for sure. He's still pissed off at the "commie bastards" that took him as a POW and has been a war monger since. It will be a sad day (not like we had any since ole Dubya been in for the past 8 years) if he gets elected. What was that stupid comment that McCain just made? Something about if it takes 100 years to win this 'war' in Iraq? This guy is gonna make George look good. How about an AMERICAN PARTY for a change instead of the Dems & Republicans. I believe that both parties are obsolete.

Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

Here in Florida, we can do what we want. Just look at the 2000 election, we screwed up the ballets. Kind of funny that ole Jeb Bush was Governor and Kathline Harris was in charge of elections and ole Georgie Dubwah ended up getting elected. Makes you think doesn't it?

I'm no fan of the Bush clan but.........that tin foil hat is cutting off bloodflow to the ole' noodle.

Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

To be honest don't like anybody, they are all bad for the nation in one way or another.
Both modern Democrats & Republicans have strayed so far away from the core principals of what our nation was founded upon.
Both party's do nothing more than push the expansion of government & in some cases globalism & soft socialism.
Republicans do it under the guise of security & Dems to it under the guise of helping the poor & down trodden.

If our for-fathers could seen what our government has been able to get away with in the past century they would turn in their graves.
What this nation needs is less government & more freedom, over both our personal lives & our income.
The average person is oppressively over taxed, we should never be taxed more than 15% on our income & even thats high.
For god sake we started a revolution over far less, now we just lay there & take from the government.

America has more than enough money to take care of it's needs & people without taking more tax money from them. Billions upon billions of our tax money is just being wasted by Washington both here at & around the globe.
We can no longer afford to save the world, America needs to get back to taking care of America first, just like every other nation does for it self!
But this will never happen under our crappy two party system.

Being we are the free-est nation in the world should have a plethora of party's to choose from, if at the very least three!
The two party system is not working, both party's have their own monopoly's & agendas & will continue to screw over the American citizen by doing what they want for decades to come.
Change, none of these candidates will give us any real change! The only true way to fix our nation is clean Washington out to to bottom & start over with a government for the people by the people as was intended.
lets send real people from our community's to work for us in Washington, not more of same lawyers, lobbyist & life long politicians.

LOL sorry for my rant, im just fed up with all these political a holes, o.k back to being happy & playing with models.

My man Gerry summed it up perfectly! Also lobbyist should be illegal in all respects. Isn't that called 'bribery'? And when law makers vote on a bill, it should be for that bill or project ONLY, not loaded with pork projects hidden in the thousands of pages of BS. Alot of waste going on in there for years.
As for the current heathcare system problem in the USA, just watch the recent film "SICKO" and it will get you mad at both the Republicans and Democrates. The terrorists held at the Navy base in Cuba has better health care than the average US citizen and they don't even have to pay a penny. There is 1 doctor for every 4 terrorist inmates. Go figure. YOUR tax money hard at work...as usual for other non-Americans and enemies of the USA.

Well, alot of people forgot (or wanted to forget) that back in the late 1980's there was a big "Savings & Loan scandel" here in the USA where alot of banks failed and many people lost their savings, etc. Both George Dubya and his brother Jeb were in that up to their heads in that mess as well. Do we not learn??? We elected by 'screw-up' (mostly in Florida) ole King George to the Whitehouse and his brother Jeb to the Govenor of Florida. George ran this country into the highest debt this country has ever seen. So I guess we are pretty stupid, he didn't run the banking system with any intelligence and then we elect this knuckle-head President, not once but twice. And ole Lane McCain is talking about "If it takes 100 years to win" in Iraq, etc. Where will all this money come from? He could pull it out of his bum, ask Warrent Buffet for a nice fat loan or maybe he can talk to ole George and his brother Jeb for any monitary advice.......

It's been kinda like having J.R. Ewing in the White House for the past seven years...

Well whoever gets in, they just HAVE to be better than the guy in the Whitehouse right now. Tony Bliar wasn't gonna take a chance on the electorate here in the UK, and did us a huge favour by quitting, sadly of course he left Gordon the mess he and Dubya created!

Except that JR had good sence with money, where as Dubya hasn't a frickin' clue and we all have to suffer because of it.....

After Dubya is out next January, we can send him your way if you like.... Nawww...I can't do that to our good English brothers. We can send him instead to Iraq since he has such a deep love of that country and let him and his brother Jeb run their banking system.

Re: Who do you want for President in 2008

A few thoughts:

Regardless of who wins, the Democrats or Republicans, we are unlikely to see dramatic changes in how things are run. The Republicans controlled everything for 6 years and made very few meaningful changes. Usually, there is enough opposition in the Congress to balance things out and slow things down. Also, the "system" is so entrenched that there is no interest in changing the staus quo on how things run. Wasn't Clinton an outsider who was going to make changes, wasn't Bush 2 also an outsider and a "uniter"? Fat chance...

The only real change could happen on the Supreme Court and even then Congress (and political opposition) will keep things from getting too liberal or too conservative so the balance is likely to stay the same.

A third party would only serve to fracture the govenment more and make things run even more chaotic with two parties ganging up on one to get things done. Just take a look at countries with coalition governments to see how effective that is. Can you imagine the pork spending with one party trying to pay off another for support? Our system us not perfect, but find me one that's significantly better...

I don't understand those that won't vote for John McCain because he's not conservative enough. Let me get this straight, I'd rather NOT VOTE (or vote Libertarian, etc.) and see Hillary or Obama elected than see a McCain elected. How would help forward the conservative cause by having liberal democrats in power?

Other than incredible charisma, what eactly has Barak Obama ever done to be in the running for the presidency of the United States (and have a very good shot at winning)? I can see governors and senior Senators but this guys has limited experience in government and some real black holes in his background. I'm a conservative, but I'd take Hillary any day - at least I have a clue of what she's all about.

Just my 2 cents...
