Re: Shipping Costs!!!

There you have it. Sometimes it's not just a 'price-story'. FYI: I'm not sittin' on mountain of cash either like some of you guys buyin' 6-8 models a week -- every week! (eh TN?)

JPN

ONLY 6-8 models a week? How can you live like that?!

(Just kidding, but I had weeks where I bought more than that...)

I'm so darn picky I don't even average that a YEAR! I'm sure there are guys here who equal or excel at 6-8 per week -- except I'm not one of them! (I'd be broke and maxed out on the plastic in no time!)

Re: Shipping Costs!!!

No kidding, eh?

About $22 for the PST & GST plus $5 for 'handling'. That is an additional $27 on top. When you consider shipping at $27 as well, it DOES add up -- hence why I prefer to either shop locally or online with Canadians, where ever possible.

Regrettably, these items were not available through my usual Canadian sources.

JPN

I noticed that when I buy from the US, I usually have to pay custom duties but when I buy from Europe/Australia I don't. Is there a special regulation for US-Canada shipments?

Re: Shipping Costs!!!

I know when shipping to Canada if the item is marked as a gift the duties are cheaper, is that correct? Everyone I ship to in Canada always tells me to mark gift on the customs forms.

I have been told the same thing when I ship to Canada. Either reduced or not duties if listed as toy.

Yeah, but it's a false statement made on a govt document if money did change hands.

Interesting. Yes -- I have noticed that as well. My U.K. stuff usually just 'drifts in under the radar' whereas the same type of product coming from anywhere in the U.S. is nailed with a Canada Customs 'Handling Fee', then PST & GST. I have never gotten a 'straight' answer about this either -- even when I have asked the Customs people. They all seem to have a different story.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. "Buy U.K.!"
