Re: Shipping Costs!!!

It depends on what size box he's using too...I just shipped a 1:72 Lancaster from Cailf to New Jersey and it cost me about 22.00 to ship UPS.
I had to get extra insur for it too.
If i used USPS Priority it was going to cost me more to ship out..
JP

Right on, JP! I think UPS Ground is the way to go versus USPS Priority. I like the fact that you can track your packages in 'real time' on the UPS site (another feature I immensely prefer)
better than USPS tracking at a snail's pace to get to it's destination (which really sucks in my humble opinion)!

Re: Shipping Costs!!!

It recently cost $35.00 to get a 1/72 B -24 from Perrys in Oregon to Ontario. Then had to add taxes etc at this end.

Re: Shipping Costs!!!

Just cost me $42 to ship a Corgi Hurricane to Canada...

Was it 1:32?

I just got a package shipped a few weeks ago from Aiken's to Toronto, Ontario here and the shipping was $27 (US or Cdn). In the package was a: Corgi 1:72 Wellington, Corgi 1:72 Spit, and a Corgi 1:72 Lysander. (The Welly box is sizable.)

How much tax/duty was added? That is always the killer for us.

Re: Shipping Costs!!!

$25.00 is high, even for USPS, probably gonna be more like $20.00, I shipped a 1/72 Heinkel to my brother in Garland texas, and it was packed really well, FedEx Ground $12.50.

That rate could very well be correct, depends on the box & where it's going.
Two weeks ago I shipped out a Corgi Anette Phantom from here in sunny FL to California, the model was packed very well, still the box the model was shipped in was not huge.
USPS priority shipping on that was $27.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to watch the box size with the new priority rates, thats where they get you!
I think if the box is over twelve inches long the price can really jumps to insane amounts.

As you said your better off with ups ground for anything bigger than a small to medium sized 1/72 fighter.
From experience I can tell even small stuff is getting expensive to ship via usps priority, the average 1/72 fighter shipped in one of their 12x12x8 boxes will run anywhere from $6.50 to $9 depending on where it's going now.
Bottom line is shipping has gone up a lot in the past year.

No kidding, eh?

About $22 for the PST & GST plus $5 for 'handling'. That is an additional $27 on top. When you consider shipping at $27 as well, it DOES add up -- hence why I prefer to either shop locally or online with Canadians, where ever possible.

Regrettably, these items were not available through my usual Canadian sources.

....and so has Exxon/Mobil's profits. They go hand in hand, unfortunately.

Yeah we all get caught with that but the store where you shopped is a good source of older models. Shipping and extras added $60.00 to a CC B-24 recently bought at Perry's.

Yup -- I hear 'ya. And here's the best part! If I had bought that No.9 Sqn Welly at Perry's I could have saved $30. Why didn't I? Because although I paid $30 more at Aiken's;
1.) What they quote you for shipping is just that -- no surprise shipping costs!
2.) They DO have a nice selection of some of the older models as well as all the NEW. (One-stop)
3.) Package arrived perfect INSIDE one week of ordering -- and candy supplied!
There you have it. Sometimes it's not just a 'price-story'. FYI: I'm not sittin' on mountain of cash either like some of you guys buyin' 6-8 models a week -- every week! (eh TN?)
