| Re: How about an OS2U Kingfisher?
HC, it is a Monogram kit built by Mick Evans to represent the OS2U-3 that was on the USS Arizona on Dec. 7, 1941. As you stated, it is highly enhanced with lots of aftermarket upgrades! Here's some more that started out as Monogram kits (these pictures are from the Hyper Scale Model Resource site) Last two are the land based version: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Some nice ideas out there. I'd definitely go with the Goose. The German Ar 196 would also be cool. I general though I'd be open to any floatplane or flying boat. Now if someone would just do a 1/72 Sunderland. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: How about an OS2U Kingfisher? Goodness me Trex - Mick Evans sure knows how to build an 'Old' Monogram kit & turn it into a REALLY decent replica. That one above ('45') looks nice, also !!!!!!!! I've seen the kit before & had it in my hands (unbuilt)......... They were available over here, in England, but not as easily obtainable as Airfix or other such makes. There always were Monogram outlets here & there, but they often carried limited stock. I can remember hunting high & low for the 1/48th B.26 Marauder, until finally getting them by the bucketload ! Considering it's age, I figure that Monogram Kingfisher is a little 'peach' - but in the hands of these skilled IPMS guys, it just looks 'stellar' (orbital !)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mate Steve, in London made the kit & although he was very much into buying the latest cutting edge kits such as Tamiya, Hasegawa & Eduard at the time, even he rated the kit as an overlooked 'Gem'. Once he'd finished the kit, he gave me the 'collectors'-patch that came with the OS2U ! I'll see if I can scan it & post it on this thread ! | |||||||||||||

| Re: How about an OS2U Kingfisher?
I still have my Monogram kit 'unbuilt' which included the "photo-etched" detail parts! I will want to use those if HM or anyother manufacturers decide to make the Kingfisher (hopefully in 48th scale) to enhance the diecast model for sure!
