Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

It's been documented that Japanese pilots employed 'ramming techniques' to US B-29 bombers.

I know. But I am not aware of specially set up and trained units that did this. It may be that I am wrong on this. Do your sources indicate that such attacks were organized on a formal basis, like the Kamikazes?

Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

Let's talk Cold War Bombers:

The huge turboprop bomber, code named "Bear" by NATO, was a mainstay of the Soviet Strategic bomber fleet during the Cold War ( and is still in use today ). Another long range monster was also employed be the USSR for much the same purposes, except this one was powered by four massive turbojets. What was its NATO code name?

1) Badger
2) Beagle
3) Crane
4) Bison

Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

Nope. The Badger was the TU-16, a capable twin jet bomber. The one in question was the Bison, or Myasishchev Mya-4, a large strategic bomber which was first delivered to Soviet squadrons around 1955 and was used fairly extensively for several decades.

'Planenutsfrog' uses one as his 'Avatar'

They were featured in a T.V. programme (for youngsters) that was screened in the Early-mid 1970's on B.B.C. (which featured TERRIBLE "dubbing").........called........"The Aeronauts" .

That's why I remembered 'em.
