Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

Moving back a year or two.
During the several "incidents" between the Japanese and the Soviets just prior to WWII in Mongolia, which of these was the primary Japanese fighter plane used in these conflicts?
1) Nakajima Ki-27 "Nate"
2) Nakajima Ki-43 "Oscar"
3) Mitsubishi A5M "Claude"
4) Mitsubishi A6M "Zeke"

Well it would have to be the Ki 27 for the J.A.A.F. and the A5M Claude for the J.N.A.F.. Between the two might have to go with more Nates being involved in the conflict.

Correct on the "Nate". These battles---oops, I meant "incidents"----were exclusively a Japanese Army affair.

Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

Let's start with an easy one for todays quizzes.

During the early days of WWII, the RAF utilized a special finish on the undersides of its nocturnal bomber fleet. What was it called?

1) Matt Black
2) Blackout Grey
3) Coal Black
4) Nivo
5) No Gloss

Moving this one up.

Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

And adding this:

Following V-E Day in Europe during WWII, the RAF created a new force, including Lancaster bombers, which were to be sent to Asia to help overcome the Japanese, who were still resisting. What name was given to this new outfit?

1) East Force
2) Tiger Force
3) Panther Force
4) Avenger Force
5) Nothing! There was no such force.

Off the to of my head, I'd guess the 110.

Yep. However longer service in this role was a factor as the JU-88G and HE-219 were certainly better warbirds.
