Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

Were those included in the WMD's that we were looking for in 2003?

Nope, no WMD's, but did find a nice Iraqi Bf 110.

Re: Quiz: Test Your Warbird IQ

Bf 109s were powered by what engines?

1. Rolls-Royce Kestrel
2. Junkers Jumo 210
3. Daimler Benz DB 601
4. Daimler Benz DB 605
5. All of the above

All of the above, of course! They tested the DB 600a too but figured the 601 would be ready in time and was more reliable.

P.S. you serious about a Bf 110 being found in Iraq? I know they found quite a bit of rare WW2 armour there, but I didn't know they found antique aircraft there other than the broken-down Russian and French junk that hadn't already been blown to smithereens.

Correct on the Bf 109 engine types. Just joking with Epapazian on the Bf 110 in Iraq. Color plate is accurate though. luftwaffe support an Iraqi uprising during WWII (Uprising failed).

Just remember something though, a few months back FlyPast magazine did have an article on some WWII aircraft found in Afghanistan. Some troops (Not sure nationality) came across wreckage of either two maybe three Italian Meridionali Ro.37s. No knowing how they ended up there.
