But if you see these guys, it's ok.

Hmmm... No, I'm pretty sure if you see those guys you should run away. What a scurvy lookin' bunch.

Re: After some local information

So, thus far, there's little to see in Kansas and no diecast to buy... sounds great... no wonder Dorothy and Toto left!

I can't speak for Kansas City. That's a big metro area. There's bound to be at least one place there that sells diecasts. Will you have access to the PX? AAFES (sometimes) sells modern Dragon warbirds and modern armor. And CanDo pieces in 1/72 and 1/144 scale.

He may have a splash problem, but I heard Cav is known as "Lucky Pierre" around the Minneapolis airport.......

Lucky for me. Might be unlucky for somebody else. Or their shoes.

Re: After some local information

I don't know how far from Leavenworth it is, but if you can get to Wichita there's a place called Motor City Kansas (IIRC) that's pretty much all diecast. Even though they deal mostly with cars, they keep a great selection of airplanes in stock.

Re: After some local information

I used to live in Kansas. The best view you can get of it is in your rearview mirror.

Hey Rush, I've been to that Motor City Kansas place several times myself...Nice place, but I do seem to remember it being just about all cars and trucks with a few mahogany aircraft...of course there really wasn't squat available for diecast aircraft in those days either with the exception of Armour.

I seem to remember the elderly gent who owned the place had a bunch of things growing out of his face which made him somewhat resemble an old potato.

I've only been there once, back in 2006. It was on one of those weekends (which was nearly EVERY weekend) where I had to get the hell out of Altus. Instead of going to the usual places like Dallas, Okie City, or Tulsa, I decided to go to Wichita. I saw this place in the phone book, and decided to check it out. I don't remember the guy who runs the place too well, but he did have a good selection of planes on hand.
