Re: GREAT Model Hangar Story (w/ Parsig9)

(Think we should tell him there's a 1:48 version in diecast, too? )

I let him know (a while ago) and sent him the link to Perry's - as it seemed to be the only place that had it in stock. I gave him a "heads up" on the Perry price. He seemed happy with the 1:100 scale.

Take care,

Re: GREAT Model Hangar Story (w/ Parsig9)

Dick tells the story of his kill in the Squadron/Signal book: [...And Kill Migs: Air to Air Combat from Vietnam to the Gulf War]. by Lou Drendel. (I have the 3rd ed. 1997). Dick's story is on pages 34 and 35, along with 2 of the 3 photos Dick sent Parsig9 and me. Photo of his Phantom "in flight" was taken on Oct 5, 1972 - caption reads "F-4E of Dick Coe refueling on egress from North vietnam after kill. Note missing AIM-7! (Dick Coe)"

A color artist profile of Dick's Phantom is on page 41 of this same book. [Entire book is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject. Individuals relating their stories as well as plenty of pics and artist aircraft profiles.]

Its a pretty dense page and half of text/story.....but if someone has this book and scanning capabilities.......???????

Take care,

DaDoser & Parsig; what a fantastic story, just amazing !

Re: GREAT Model Hangar Story (w/ Parsig9)

I got the Coe Phantom from Perry's while it was on sale and i lucked out on it..
This one is perfect no decals like the other Coe Phantoms i have seen...All pad printed tampo...Even the Tigershark mouth..
I just hate the looks of the oversized tanks is all.It would of looked better with the tanks off.
Here is a picture of it.

That IS a great story, Doug and Parsig! How nice for everyone involved. Mr Coe sounds like a true gentleman.

Anyone removed 'em? If so, how exactly -- they seem like they are on there pretty darn solidly... lots o' glue.

Re: GREAT Model Hangar Story (w/ Parsig9)

Way cool. Twenty odd years ago I was working at a ski resort as a ski technician and this guy brought this ancient set of skis and bindings for me to tune and check. I told him the bindings weren't up to code and that he'd have to sign a waiver. He was real nice about it. Turned out to be Mark Berent, author of the "Wings of War" series and former F4 pilot. He autographed a book and a business card for me. Also took a ride with Stephen Coonts in his old PT-17 Cannibal Queen. That was awesome.
