I'm still not sold on this. Supposedly JJ Abrams plans to remain faithful to the original. If he is, why is the Enterprise painted up like it was in the first movie, insted of like it was in the original TV series?

BTW I still think the first series was the best, they seemed to lose the idea with the more modern ones.

Wasn' t there a story on how Kirk changed the settings of a war game to win while at the Academy? I forget which movie that was in. I still prefer the original crew and its BS that they killed Kirk off, but since it happened in the Nexus... Is he really dead???? Thats a character that should have just faded away.

Agree. Generations was an irrelevant movie anyway. I just skip it in the Star Trek canon, as if the story didn't happen. The movie was simply a real bad dream.

What is even sad is the fact they didn't even ask Bill Shatner to star in this new movie.....Heck they ask Nimoy to come on aboard and so he is in the movie...But not Shatner
thats not right at all.
At least Shatner could of played Kirks father in the new movie or another admiral of starfleet...

That would be the Kobayashi Maru test, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn, which remains to this day my favourite Star Trek movie.

I don't think there's any danger of a challenge to that title from the new one.

The story is that Kirk changed the settings of the computer simulation so a no-win situation
could have a postive outcome, which he then promptly won. He was give praise for his inovation
in his Academy record but also a demerit for messing with the computer. So, he wasn't "cheating"
in the sense that he was unable to get through the Academy without others help. To turn Kirk
into some kind of doofus is unacceptable.

I've always been a fan of Star Trek and I'll watch the new one too. Kahn was the best by far. Stinks that Shat didn't get into the new movie. All original cast members left should have cameos just to honor the tradition.
