Talking Re: Welcome back to MHII !

Was it my connection or was that a really slow website?

Just a really slow site. I found it tough getting in, then -- once in -- things moved at times like molasses. They just aren't equipped to handle the additional traffic. I popped by yesterday afternoon and it was moving smooth.

Re: Welcome back to MHII !

Ara, you don't think I'm upset do ya? I was just looking for an opportunity to mention the correct color again!

Hey lanslide I finally got my Franklin Mint Rufe, which william_1972 was kind enough to repaint light purple (hairycaryvio) for me! I'll post pictures soon. The plane depicts Col. Ishie in the NO SHO operation (French Frigate Shoals, 1943).

Sounds cool, Ara1. I can't wait to see the results!

Ahem, flyXwire.

There are only 3 things wrong with the original post.

1. william_1972 does not exist.
2. Neither do purple Rufes.
3. The NO SHO operation was a no show.

Sorry. Just a little giddy being back in the States.

Description reminds kind of reminds me how Guillows packaged there rubber powered Rufe back in the 60s. Think their box art had it either a purple or reddish color. Some of the earlier box art on the plastic kits was not all that accurate either.

I grew up 1 block from Guillows! Raided their dumpster many a time. Got a tour of the place in 1979 when I was caught trespassing!

Re: Welcome back to MHII !

Reminds me of the early plastic models from the late 50's maybe, by Aurora? They were molded in colored plastic - if I can remember that far back, a reddish/maroon ME-109, a blue Spitfire, etc. My first ventures into the aviation world!! Does anyone else remember these?
