Re: Welcome back to MHII !

Why ever would I do a thing like that?.. .He's nothing but a humo(u)rless jerk from the middle of nowhere....

(actually I was posing as JPN posing as Upkeep during the times when I wasn't posing as spitfire)

My apologies, Skunky....I didn't think you would stoop that low.

Thumbs up Re: Welcome back to MHII !

I'm also quite active on Australian forums dealing with scale car models and never had a language barrier problem dealing with folks Down Under with an exception of off topic stuff, like AFL or what not. But, once again, Queen's English proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for me, more so then Indian-accented guy in tech support who was assigned the name, Ted.

I hear 'ya! I have a brother-in-law now living in Melbourne who takes great delight in giving me the update on Aussie slang. I think that is what a lot of us were unaccustomed to on DAF as well -- not so much the difference between color and colour, for instance. The regional terms sometimes throws me for a loop, I tell you.

FYI: For those interested . . .
This weekend I will be posting in the 'Customize & Repair' area (with photos) my experience with pulling the landing gear UP on a Corgi 'Legends' JEJ Spitfire Mk IX for seamless in-flight display. As many of you already know, the Legends line come with fixed gear in a down position with no alternates in the up position. Needless to say, it was a tricky job to do well, especially since I was unable to find a 1:72 Spitfire kit to rob of the 'UP' position landing gear (my usual MO). This shows how you can do it by using the existing landing gear. Stay tuned!

No problem for Skunky ,he only has a three inch ground clearance, makes him very cranky when it snows, strangely his voice goes up several octaves after the snow falls.

. . . So nice in fact; I've joined. I'll now spend twice as mush time trying to catch up

I found it very handy, as it also puts you many steps closer to the decision makers at Corgi. Hang around long enough and you'll find out who they are!

Poteen is the name for the famous brain rotting brew Jim. I drank it once many years ago at a booze up the day before a wedding; never again as I had the worst hangover ever. Think Kango Hammers bouncing off your head. Probably a bit like that moonshine that Skunky and Tank Nut are fond of!!

Re: Welcome back to MHII !

Chaps, good to see that the site is now firing on all cylinders again. It got a bit mad on the DAF site with so many extra guests but it was nice to see everyone posting. It is great that there are two active sites so that they can back each other up in times of crisis. OK, they both have their own subtle (and not so subtle) differences but everyone shares the same interests. Well done to all those behind the scenes who got the MHII back - an excellent effort.

My friends wife comes from Sligo and she smuggled a small bottle back for me when she returned from a visit to her relatives.

It took several months for the back of my throat to heal up.

I've got the feeling TopHat should be along presently to offer his musings on this statement....
