Re: Welcome back to MHII !

The Model Hangar community was split into two groups the past 2 weeks.

The first group knew how to access this UK-based "sister" site: http://forums.diecast-aviation.eu/

The second group had no idea (or didn't know how to access) the sister site and were in the dark.

To me, the first group were very much like the proverbial Yanks in wartime England: culture shock on both sides. We crashed a party. New friendships were made, and we had some spats, too. We encountered, and expressed, opinions we weren't used to in the Model Hangar. As time went along, old friends found their way and joined up, most often with the same monikers we're used to seeing here. (Although flyXwire was incognito for awhile!).

My experience was exemplified with the UK site's catch-all 1/48 section, while on this board we break it down to Franklin Mint, Eagles International, Hobby Master, Carousel 1, and Marushin. The UK site's 1/48 section (subtitled "heavy metal" by yours truly in 2005) received lots of attention while we were there, again, reflective of the culture differences.

I enjoyed being there. I'm most thankful for having email contact with my buddies here who directed me to the UK site; I'd long forgotten the link.

So you second groupers, sorry you were out of circulation for so long! I'd suggest you get an email addy of a buddy here, just to keep communication options open.

It's great being back! Thanks to the administrator and moderators for working so hard for us and our hobby. They do us a great service.

I felt like I was forced down to a allied airstrip due to bad weather and no matter how hospitable our hosts were, my thoughts were about getting home. As soon as the weather cleared, though . . . Contact -- Chocks Away!!

Re: Welcome back to MHII !

I've been a member of the DAC for some time but rarely posted or started threads there. However, this past week confirmed my opinion that there are a lot of gentlemanly and knowledgable Brits over there so I plan to be more active on the UK site. Still, it's good to be home again.

Re: Welcome back to MHII !

After suffering from DW (diecast withdrawal), I finally registered "over there", but am certainly happy to have MHII back. Thanks are in order to Gavin for taking time out of your busy schedule to fix it up. Good to see all of you again!

Glad to have you back. Now it is off to the Classifieds Section to see if there are any good deals.
