Description reminds kind of reminds me how Guillows packaged there rubber powered Rufe back in the 60s. Think their box art had it either a purple or reddish color. Some of the earlier box art on the plastic kits was not all that accurate either.

Oh. I totally forgot about Guillows. I thought this was some sort of creative writing moment -- a la "Tank Nut'. You'll have to excuse me -- I'm still messed up on the time change from the U.K.(!) Pay no heed.

Reminds me of the early plastic models from the late 50's maybe, by Aurora? They were molded in colored plastic - if I can remember that far back, a reddish/maroon ME-109, a blue Spitfire, etc. My first ventures into the aviation world!! Does anyone else remember these?

I most certainly do remember Aurora from my model building days in the 60s. Mine were often 6 pieces and molded in WHITE plastic. Of course I should mention, I only bought them for: Avro Arrow, CF-100 and United Airlines Boeing 727 -- which explains the white plastic. Everything else was: Monogram, Revell, Airfix and Frog. The occasional Hawk or Lindberg (which I see is still going!) as well.

Oh yeah, do I ever remember these old kits. My very first kit was an Aurora F4F Wildcat. Those old kits sure were primitive, but a whole bunch of fun. I keep a small stash of the older kits just look at the old box art (These kits are still complete too.). Even have a couple of the old Aurora kits stashed somewhere. Here is picture of a few that were easy to get to.

Good grief, CC, those are true classics! My brother haunts vintage toy shows and has, so far, grabbed in unbuilt condition, just about all the kits he and I built. What a trip down Memory Lane seeing them and the box art. These photos do bring back memories, alright!!

Undoubtedly the first (and hopefully last) time in history the words "creative writing" and "tank nut" have been used in the same sentence.

I'll bet YOU know the special feature that involves the prop with that F3F, eh? I built that like it was a PRIZE!! Boy was Monogram on top of the game in those days!

Oh yeah, pull prop out just a little bit, give a little turn and retract the landing gear. I actually still have two of these kits unbuilt (Why I picked up two I do not recall.). I remember making the orange Gulf version as a kid. Pretty neat kits for sure. Currenly I am trying to hunt down a Monogram Me 110. For some reason I really liked that one as a kid, and probably made a total of three or four of them.
