| Re: Irish Chapter - Inaugural Meeting We numbered but three but I reckon that's a good start. It's great to meet other die cast lunatics who are interested in our hobby. The range of other people's knowledge and tastes is a great ice breaker. Sniper you are more than welcome to join our little forum on Feb 12th. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Irish Chapter - Inaugural Meeting
I emphatically hope this is true as I love what we get here in the States (although I must admit I give Murphy's a slight edge overall). My wife and I are discussing a trip to Ireland in the next decade or so. I never knew I had Irish blood until my son Connor was born and I told the family I knew we weren't Irish but we loved the name so we chose it for our first son. My mom then told me of my paternal grandmother being off the boat Irish and my maternal grandmother being at least 1/2. My maternal great-grandmother was an orphan from Ireland - so the story goes - so there is a fair bit of the good blood in our family. I'd have never known - with the constant reference to Swedish and German heritage - had it not been for my sons. Connor and Evan are the light of our lives - Evan was to be Liam but my wife vetoed it.... must have been her Norwegian heritage.

I would have to agree. My problem is that Murphy's isn't that widely available where I am -- especially in MY favourite local flea-bag pub! VERY decent pint, though!!!! JPN

| Re: Irish Chapter - Inaugural Meeting I must fly the flag for Guinness -- a taste I picked up when I visited Ireland a few years ago. (Of course, Murphy's is a very fine stout too.) Chiefs70: I don't think you will be disappointed; it is truly a green and pleasant land, with fine and generous people. Shamrock: Keep posting those Irish Chapter meetings, and I'll be there with you in spirit (Jameson's) and stout. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Irish Chapter - Inaugural Meeting Thanks for the good wishes Folgore. DH is the main force behind our little gathering which hopefully we can expand. Fantastic Guinness poster. It is something they excell at. Some rumours around that Guinness may sell their land bank in central Dublin which is worth a fortune and move to a greenfield site. Progress!! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Irish Chapter - Inaugural Meeting Thanks also Chiefs for the good wishes. Ireland is a very expensive place to live now and with the dollar faring badly against the euro you be shocked at the prices here. My Dad who used to travel a lot in his job regaled us of prices in Paris many years ago; little did I think that Dublin is now almost as dear. We haven't lost the welcome though ![]() | |||||||||||||

Errmm... I cannot tell a lie: that poster is a fake, from this graphics-oriented website. (Warning some images may offend political sensibilities. Others are just plain funny.) The real Guinness ads are great, but I couldn't pass up the aviation theme for MHII.
