I wouldn't have called any of them Irish to their faces ,Ulster Scots yes but you will find that these were "Orange" Irish not "Green" Irish who tended to settle in the Eastern coast from the mid 19th century on where as the Ulster-Scots pushed outwards and settled most of the present US and Canada and then just considered themselves American not Irish American.

After my recent visit to the States particularly Boston I decided to brush up on my American history.
