One of the planes that started it all...

This is the second diecast airplane I owned in my life, I think I got it at a flea market when I was 9 or 10. It survived my childhood, relatively intact -- even with both removable bombs! This is amazing to me as I played hard with this thing.... it, along with my first diecast toy plane (a Dinky phantom, which did not survive), are most likely responsible -- at least in part -- for my current zinc addiction. I probably got it around 1978-1980? It's smaller than 1:72 -- looks close to 1:100. I used to play with it with my 1:72 Airfix soldiers though. I uncovered this model in a box I'd packed years ago (probably when I went to college) and had not looked in since... Interesting to see that even back then they could put a swazi on a child's toy without worrying about the PC issues!

PappyB,
That is awesome! Thanks for taking the pcitures. It wonderful seeing that it made it this far. Make sure to give it a place of honor in your fleet. I think it has earned it after all those long years.

Anything for a weird life.

LOL! Let's not forget.. this is a toy Funny though that you can at least get rivet details, albeit huge ones, molded on a 1:100 toy but not on some 1:72 and larger "models"

Are you sure that's not an IXO you happened to sit on by accident?

Wow Pappy, that's a cool pic and a great memory. You really should add it to your site as a "Where it all began.." kind of page.

Was the swazi an aftermarket decal?.......oh, that's right, this one's from the '60s when you could still do stuff like that without people getting their panties in a bunch.
