How Many Non US, German and UK Diecast Planes Do You Have on Display?

Because the manufacturers focus primarily on U.S., German and English aircraft when making WW II era warbirds in diecast, these are well represented in most of our collections. But what about Japan, Russia, France and Italy? Recently, I tallied up the number of diecast planes I have on display from each of these countries--not counting "extras" in storage. The results were a little surprising. Japan topped my list with 13 planes accounting for 41 individual models, including duplicates. Next in line came Italy ( 7 planes and 14 models ) and Russia ( 6 planes and 14 models) while bringing up the rear was France ( 5 planes, counting the P-36 Hawk, and 6 models ). I wonder how these countries stack up in the collections of other members?

Zip, zero, nada, none, null. I don't collect Nazi birds, Commie birds, Italian or Japanese aircraft. Can't say that French aircraft excite me either, even if its under a different flag. And heck I only own three Spitfires, and one US Mosquito!

Re: How Many Non US, German and UK Diecast Planes Do You Have on Display?

Here is my breakdown of aircraft in my collection that are not United States aircraft types.

German 42 (2 Bf-110s on pre order will boost it to 44 in 2008)
United Kingdom/Commonwealth 20 (Gloster Gladiator on pre order will boost to 21 in 2008)
Japan 9
French 3
Italian 2
Dutch East Indies 1
Swedish (Finnish service) 1

United States aircraft at 25 models (Two more Buffalos on pre order will make it 27). I like US aircraft, but have to have a variety of different countries. What is the sense of collecting military aircraft if friend and foe are not represented. Nothing like having a Spitfire or P-40 sitting next to a Bf 109 on the shelf. It would be nice if the current diecast model companies would put out a broader variety of aircraft from different nations.
