Which Cat is best?

1. Coastal Command with dingy base 210 Sqn

2. Pembroke Dock 209 Sqn

Don't really want to buy both but each has its own merit. Which to choose?

Oh yeah, Black Cat!

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Which Cat is best?

Well the best of the best is the Black Cat PBY .....But if you had to chose between the two you listed i would say
Coastal Command with dingy base 210 Sqn.

Re: Which Cat is best?

The Black Cat has some appeal but is it right?
The posting below was found:

The models they used for the pre-production shots is clearly a 5A, but the description "VP-34, LT. PFLEEGER, AIR FLEET WING 17, NEW GUINEA, 1944" definitely refers to a 5. Lt. Pfleeder's aircraft, registered 69 (BuNo. 08363), belonging to VP-34 (or VPB-34) in Fleet Air Wing 17, was involved in a semi-famous rescue of a B-24 crew that had ditched on its return from a raid on Truk. See profile; See also the third picture on this page (from Robert Hayes' book "Bless 'Em All"). As near I can tell, VP-34 was never equipped with the 5A.

Re: Which Cat is best?

The Black Cat is really stunning. I've got a couple of Catalina and the only one that has never been rotated off the shelf is teh Black Cat.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Which Cat is best?

Agreed on the Black Cat. However, the USAF Rescue version is pretty cool with the bright colors and Burbank's House of Hobbies has it on sale now for half off.

Re: Which Cat is best?

I like the British Catalinas and picked up the Pembroke Dock 209 Sqn version. Sharp looking plane with nice looking paint scheme.
