Re: New: The Dark Knight trailer

I'm afraid that this post will reveal me for the fanboy that I am...sorry!

I'm not sure whether Nicholson will be upset about Ledger's interpretation of the Joker or not, but it doesn't really matter. Nicholson's Joker just wouldn't work with Christian Bale's Batman, just like Caesar Romero's Joker wouldn't have worked with Michael Keaton's Batman. There are tons of different versions of Batman out there in at least three mediums: Multiple cartoons, multiple live-action movies and multiple comic book interpretations. As comic book fans, we are sort of lucky, because we can go to the Batman salad bar and take what we want, ignoring the rest.

Re: New: The Dark Knight trailer

I saw the trailer for this a few weeks ago before either I Am Legend or Blade Runner, I can't remember which? (Okay, talk about FanBoy? Tat is my 10th or 12th time in the theater for Blade Runner. )

Is it me, or does the make up and look of the joker just scream WRONG at you? For me, it just did not work at all. I see what they are going for, and I like the idea of him being just a little more completely out of control, but it really looked like he had out his face through a car wash and not toweled off. The Joker has always been presented immaculately, which contrasts the total and absolute chaos of him personally. Heath Ledger just looks nuts, if not downright "I've been living under a bridge for the last 5 years." I just couldn't get behind it.

Or am I just completely nuts?

Anything for a weird life.

Heath Ledger (The Joker) Is Found Dead

January 22, 2008, 4:42 pm
Actor Heath Ledger Is Found Dead
By SEWELL CHAN

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body.

Mr. Ledger, a native of Perth, Australia, won acclaim for his role as a co-star in “Brokeback Mountain”, a 2005 film. The film, based on a short story by Annie Proulx about two cowboys who fall in love, won critical acclaim. Reviewing the film in The New York Times, the critic Stephen Holden wrote, “Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a great screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.”

Calls by The New York Times to Mara Buxbaum, a publicist for Mr. Ledger, and Steve Alexander, the actor’s agent, were not immediately returned this afternoon.

Thomas J. Lueck contributed reporting.

Re: New: The Dark Knight trailer

They were saying that apparently, Heath was having a tough time in 'letting go' of the Joker character. In some interviews he was saying that it was most sadistic, evil role he's ever played and that it was making him lose sleep at night and stuff like that. Wow.

Re: New: The Dark Knight trailer

Oh I doubt it was the Joker role that bugged him. But I'll leave it at that.
