Re: I really want this book, but...

Wow! I picked up "Bluenoser Tales" during the airshow at Rickenbacker, had Punchy Powell and a number of other Bluenosers sign it.....perhaps it will be worth $1200 some day? (Hey, I may have finally found my retirement plan!)

Re: I really want this book, but...

You never know, you might just find one in a Goodwill store some day.

I have found some pretty incredible books there including "Big Ben The Flat Top- THe Story of The U.S.S. Franklin CV-13".

Re: I really want this book, but...

That is the first Bluenoser book that came out a few years ago.
It's the first printing like the one i have it's worth some money now days i guess....A few years ago i saw one on ebay sold for 350.00...
To me this book is priceless..2nd printing came out in 2000 i think it was.
"The Bluenosed Bastards of Bodney" is out of print and is now sold out. Remaining copies are only available to veterans of the 352nd and their families.
Until the new "Bluenoser Tales" book came out a few months back.
But i think that the ebay price on that auction maybe a little high IMHO but it does come with a few extra stuff in there too plus it's signed by Mr.Powell.

Re: I really want this book, but...

I'd be happy with a 1st or 2nd printing - the material is more important to me than the market value. I've done all sorts of genealogy to try and prove that I'm the 4th cousin five times removed of a member of the 352nd (so that I can purchase one of the few remaining books that Mr. Powell has), but no dice. I'm related to a Artillery Battalion S-2, a ground crewman of the 36th FG (9th AF), and a Base Ops officer who was KIA in India on a Search and Rescue, but no Blue Nosers in the Family Tree. I'll keep looking and hoping, and saving my money if I'm only gonna get a copy for $600-$1200.

Have any of you tried to do a search on ABE.com or Addall? Sometimes you can stumble onto great deals there.

Re: I really want this book, but...

For that price, you could buy that book, OR go and fly a real Blue noser down at Stallion 51.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Well thanks to a very good and caring friend of mine I have a copy of the Bluenosers Tales signed by Punchy Powell and some of the boys.

NO WAY WOULD I EVER SELL THIS BOOK, I must have read it 20 times already and I plan to read it another 20 times and then some more, it is a great book.

God Bless America.
