| What an Unexpected Surprise! A good friend gave me 2 completely unexpected Christmas gifts today: the tail hook from an F-14 and a section of fuselage skin from a B-52 (see pictures below). His wife's father worked for decades at AMARG (Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group) near Davis-Monthan in Tucson. He acquired these for me from stored aircraft. The only question now is how to display them. The edges and surfaces of the tail hook are sharp and jagged from all the traps so I will have to sand and grind it to get rid of the sharp surfaces. What do you folks think about painting it new? Or would you leave it as it is? | |||||||||||||
