King & Country's Whirlwind

They're making only ten of these, so you can have one for only $795.

Re: King & Country's Whirlwind

Only $795...wow ...ok. No thanks for that price. How about making say 500 to 1000 of these in 1/72 or 1/48 scale and charge aound $50.00-$60.00 each. It would be a better deal for us all.

Exclamation Re: King & Country's Whirlwind

Very nice model, indeed, but yeah, I agree -- too much coin. Do it in 1:72 and price it at $35 bucks and I'll consider it. Gotta say though, an interesting and most under-modeled plane!!

Re: King & Country's Whirlwind

It is a real beauty, but a shame it is a price for only the rich and famous.

By the look of it, it is probably resin if it is like their other items. The whirlwind looks great by the pictures posted but I'm not giving up my left one because it needs to stay next to the right one, if you know what I mean....

Along that line, what's with the new Avatar? Who's the toots wearing #14?

Re: King & Country's Whirlwind

King & Country's Warbirds are hand carved mahogany.

Here is a pic of one of their latest. I am not sure of the price on this. Needless to say I won't be ordering one for myself.

Here is the information that was posted on the plane and a little about the manufacturing.

King & Country’s hand-carved, hand-painted 1:32 scale model is an accurate and realistic representation of ‘Ruptured Duck’ flown by Lt. Ted W. Lawson. After the Doolittle Raid, Lt. Lawson co-authored a book about his experience entitled Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo which in 1944 MGM made into an epic movie of the same name. The film starred Spencer Tracy, Robert Mitchum, and Van Johnson (as Lawson) and has since become a classic ‘War Movie’ from that era.

Each of our aircraft is hand carved out of kiln-dried, recycled Philippine mahogany and skillfully hand-painted by our small team of workshop artists. These B-25 aircraft come with landing gear down and a sturdy black display stand and packed in their own individual boxes. Just 20 of these superb models have been made and each comes with its own certificate of authenticity. These aircraft will be available for purchase at www.kingandcountry.com beginning on December 18th (figure is not included).

thanks
Ronnie

Guess you like the new Avatar. She's a cutie and a Vikings fan to boot! She likes Brad Johnston since that was his number before he left last year, that about all I can tell you parsig9.

Re: King & Country's Whirlwind

I would guess it will retail for around $900 which is what they list their Me-410 and Swordfish at currently. They are limited to 20 IIRC and the Swordfish is fantastic in 1/32 with the rigging and detail but.... geez, I can buy a lot of diecast and K&C figures for that price. One thing I've noticed about the K&C/figure collectors is most of them have very deep pockets.
