Re: Wright Field 1941 pic!!!!

I can identify all of them but the tail-less one on the left.

Can we try with real bullets now?

Wright Field 1941

What a fantastic shot!! I would hazard a guess it might have been done for something like LIFE magazine. FYI: Speaking of LIFE, my 1942 'spotters guide' in the Feb.2 issue has that tail-less aircraft identified as a B-23.

Pity you don't have the source for this photo -- there could be more there by now! Such classic American fighters along the front row too: P-40, P-39 & P-43. Sweet.

Re: Wright Field 1941 pic!!!!

Wouldn't mind a P-39 in those colors or the early P-40. The ultra bright P-38 is another story, but I'm sure Corgi could pull that off too.

I was just sitting here looking at that photo and wondering the very same! 'Why is it we are rarely allowed to get these aircraft in the early war colours?' I'm just looking at that photo and thinking what a swell collection those aircraft in those markings would be. Of course, these aircraft would likely be considered 'boring' by many collectors, as they appear so 'plain'. I'd almost kill for that B-17c in those clean markings -- complete with the bare metal. Such a wonderful optimistic display of technology. Such refined design (in some cases). Yeah -- that era sure was exceptional for airplane design!

That would make a nice looking line up of models sitting on a shelf. Currently HM has a few prewar naval aircraft models, but it would be nice to see somebody put out some prewar Army Air Corps paint schemes.

Here, Here! Starting with that B-17c and moving up! That would be very refreshing.

I wouldn't mind if somebody would crank out a P-43 Lancer too! (On top of that just add a Seversky P-35)
