Thumbs up Re: Wright Field 1941 pic!!!!

I wouldn't mind if somebody would crank out a P-43 Lancer too! (On top of that just add a Seversky P-35)

Yeah, I have to agree with you.
Personally, if Corgi (or anyone else with the ability) wanted to do just that very line-up as outlined in the photo (maybe call it "The Wright Field Series --1941") and roll them out over time, one by one, I'd be all over that like a fat kid on a candy bar. Sure additional planes of that era could be added. Why not? While we're at it, how 'bout a polished surface on the bare metal ones?

Oooo I get goosebumps just thinking about how flash that all would look!!!!! Historically they represent those naive optimistic beginnings of some aircraft that developed into some very special legends. Others, like the P-40 and P-39, just ALWAYS looked great screaming out of the clouds! Personally, I'd LOVE to have that U.S. collection -- just as pictured!

Re: Wright Field 1941 pic!!!!

Ditto!
If corgi HM or anybody did that line up in diecast I would buy everyone.
I love early & pre war stuff, I think there are a lot of collectors that do.
Most companys except HM wont make the stuff, IMO it's a shame.

Lets see, HM will have a total of 4 pre war Buffalos (The Long Isand version fits in there) and their Lexington Dauntless. Carousel has one pre war aircraft with their Wildcat. The only other I can think of is Specast and they put out three pre war versions of their early P-40 (Unfortunately 1/45th scale and not exactly up to the newer standandards.) One of the pre war Specast P-40s was the initial delivery shiny & silver. Might just have to put my pre war Specast P-40 up on the shelf next to my Buffalos for awhile.

Don't forget Franklin Mint's Marine Corps SBD-1, ca 1940 (which I have ordered and will write a review on upon receipt).

First time I have seen that one. Looked it up on a couple of sites and it looks pretty sharp. Might have to consider picking one up to help flush out my pre war models.

For some reason your pictures did not initially come up. Even nicer looking than the pictures I came across. Make a nice addition to any collection.

Yes. I am finishing Frankin Mint's job by converting it to a -1 (all it needs is a proper hub and an enlarged airscoop at the top of the cowling). Not sure how they missed these two points, would have been really easy to make a true -1 with a few minor add on parts.

By the way, I am looking for a few parts to aid in this conversrion, check my thread here if you're a modeler with a spares box and you want to help!

Wanted: air scoop for Spitfire or Hurricane 1/48 model kit

Fully in agreement with Ed', cracking-picture Phant' !!!!!!!!

I'm AMAZED (that) none of you Gent's has mentioned the Beautiful Martin B.26 in the background ????????

Gawd, in THAT line up, SHE'S the 'cutting-edge' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made me wonder for a moment whether or not THAT ACTUAL Marauder was (later) one of the VERY-FEW that actually attacked the Japanese fleet at the Battle of Midway ???? (they had been used as 'Torpedo'-Bombers & 2 of the 4 attackers were shot-down).

There's an AMAZING account on the web' somewhere, that relates the astonishing fact that Lt James Muri actually flew his B.26 Marauder straight up the length of the Jap' Aircraft-Carrier, AKAGI during the attack, sending Japs scurrying-away in fright !!!!!!!!

By all accounts the Jap's were so shocked by his 'unorthodox' form of 'Evasive-Action' he actually got away with it, although his poor B.26 was so badly 'shot to ribbons' that it was bulldozed into the Sea (waters-edge) after it's return to Midway-Island (after being stripped of useful components)........

Ya never know, maybe just maybe (outside-chance) that the B.26 in the photo could be...........?

BTW, Ara, I like the F.M. 'S.B.D.' as well, (I bought two), but hey, haven't they missed a colour 'out', on that S.B.D in the picture ?

Looks like they missed-out on 'Orange' after trying to make it look like 'Joseph's-coat' !!!!!!!!!!!!

(& maybe Purple, everything else is there !)

Re: Wright Field 1941 pic!!!!

That would make a nice looking line up of models sitting on a shelf. Currently HM has a few prewar naval aircraft models, but it would be nice to see somebody put out some prewar Army Air Corps paint schemes.

The P40CU in the piccy was at the field on test trials. How about that great looking YP38 now that would be a nice diecast.
(1941).

God Bless America.
