Your #1 pick polls weekly summary.

It has been right around one week since I started #1 Pick Polls. At this point there have been a total of 133 votes spread out over 59 different aircraft. Overall numbers seem to indicate that single engine fighter sparking the most interest, but closely followed by heavy bomber category (Single engine fighter, heavy bomber, twin engine fighter, medium bomber and light bomber category bringing up the rear.). Of the 59 plane types picked, a little over half would fall under category of aircraft type not having been produced yet. The following is a breakdown of the #1 picks per category at or about the one week point:

Single Engine Fighter
F4U Corsair 1/48th scale with 4 votes

Twin Engine Fighter
P-61 Black Widow 1/72nd or 1/48th with 15 votes

Light Bomber
SBC2 Helldiver 1/48th with 6 votes

Medium Bomber
Mitsubishi G4M Betty 1/144th or 1/72nd with 5 votes

Heavy Bomber
Boeing B-29 Superfortress 1/72nd or 1/48th with 12 votes

Nice looking selection of aircraft members have submitted and look forward to seeing what other members might like to see. Oh, and if you catch an error, please let me know. Depending on the member responses to polls will keep them updated for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

I've been following the progress of this latest series of polls with some interest. One thing, I find a bit discouraging, is the disparity between views and votes, with the latter outnumbered by about ten to one. In other words, lots of people are looking, but only a small proportion are interested enough to participate. Perhaps this is a function of too many similar polls and wish lists on the forum leaving people, who otherwise might respond, feeling oversaturated with this thread genre. Who knows?

One thing I would like to see, when you come up with "winners" for each category, is a final cross-category poll. In other words, say the B-29 wins the heavy bomber category, the P-61 wins the heavy fighter category, the Betty wins among medium bombers, etc. But if you had to pick one plane period!---what then?

As with previous polls, I have a feeling that we have received the lion's share of the responses, and may only have a few more inputs trickle in. I found it to be quite interesting to see that some of the choices strayed from the normally expected picks (At least I know I am not alone.). At this point it can be safe to say there would be allot of support for the P-61 and the B-29. Those two aircraft both exceeded 10 votes, which really makes them stand out from the rest.

Talking Re: Your #1 pick polls weekly summary.

What will be the 'tale of the tape' is what Corgi ACTUALLY produces/announces over the next 18 months. Will any of these 'winners' from the vox popular be on the list? I doubt it. What you could likely see instead is:
-- HP Hampden (Sorry Hornchurch!)
-- Short Stirling
-- Variations of the Bristol Blenheim
I could be wrong, but somehow, I don't think I'm too far off the mark. Just my 2¢ worth . . .

Corgi has been putting out the RAF bombers lately, Wellington, Halifax and Bristol Blenheim for next year. Might get lucky and see a Stirling or Yep my favorite the Hampden.

Re: Your #1 pick polls weekly summary.

It is now just a little over two weeks since polls started and it is time for a weekly update. At this point there have been a total of 153 votes spread out over 61 different aircraft. If you had to single out an individual winner it would have to go to the P-61 with 18 votes (13 point lead in its category). The top winners in each category are as follows:

Single Engine Fighter
F4U Corsair 1/48th scale with 5 votes

Twin Engine Fighter
P-61 Black Widow 1/72nd or 1/48th with 18 votes

Light Bomber
SBC2 Helldiver 1/48th with 8 votes

Medium Bomber
Mitsubishi G4M Betty 1/144th or 1/72nd with 6 votes

Heavy Bomber
Boeing B-29 Superfortress 1/72nd or 1/48th with 14 votes

Again this is a nice looking selection of aircraft members have submitted. At this point it looks like majority of folks have made their inputs, but will continue to update for another couple of weeks, just incase any other forum members would like to chime in.

Re: Your #1 pick polls weekly summary.

Guys, I took a stab at starting a similar poll in the "Aircraft Models" section of the forum if you would like to vote. Thanks CC for all your hard work. These results are very interesting. WWII 1/72 Scale Aircraft To Fill In The Gap

Thanks CC for all your hard work.

I concur. Cruver Collector, I make my living as a writer, and I have to say that your handling of this project, and the quality of your writing (accurate, not a wasted word) is fantastic.

Cheers to you.

Re: Your #1 pick polls weekly summary.

Cruver, how about now creating 5 separate "real simple - pick one of the following" polls that use the data you obtained so far? Each of the 5 categories (Single Engine Fighter, Heavy Bomber, Twin Engine Fighter, Medium Bomber, and Light Bomber) can have 15 entries max. based on this forum's current programming. You can click the option to never close the poll and management could "sticky" it. This way we can see how the top 15 entries per category do compared to each other over time. I don't think this issue is "over saturated" (better keep the poll right here in "The Pub" though for max. visibility as I think the poll I started is too hidden in the "Aircraft Models" section). It only takes a quick pick to be included and counted. It is interesting to see poll results in graphic form and you won't have to keep counting! BTW Cruver, can you fix your result summary to be SB2C Helldiver rather than SBC2 and include 1/72 please?
