Re: Who would go see Led Zeppelin if they decide to tour?

Reminds me of the time I was at this club in Dallas back in the '80s. We were there to see a band called Mary's Danish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were playing the Bronco Bowl on the same night. Flea and the boys showed up at the club after their concert and threw the other band off the stage, took over their instruments, and proceeded to play a song or two before we realized it was a hoax and the Chilis were friends of the other band. The Chilis ended up jamming with Mary's Danish for the rest of the night. That was pretty cool...back when the Chilis were raw.

I had the chance to see Smashing Pumkins in a dive bar in Germany, but passed. Didn't want to go to Frankfurt and get stuck there missing the last train of the night. Of course the local area around the Banhof was interesting, They were still too new, and well that dive bar had no seats at all. Only in Germany. LOL

I saw them in concert in 1982, before they had furry guitars. Does this count?

It sure does Elmer,

I think I have just about every album they made.

Great stuff tanknut.

God Bless America.

That would have been a good one, I think. It's neat to be able to see bands before they make it really big. I remember seeing the Neville Brothers before they became famous outside of New Orleans.

I saw Alice in Chains in Seattle before they broke big.

Re: Who would go see Led Zeppelin if they decide to tour?

Considering the success of their London concert the other night, and plans for a show in New York, it looks more and more likely that there may be a full fledged Led Zep tour in the near future. How many of you would go see them?

1, most of us of a certain age will go,

2, i saw RUSH recently and they were fantastic!

3, can I sit through another dreadful performance of.......... "Kashmir", or "Whole Lotta Love?" I think not!

4, I have seen lots of bands in my time. The best shows: U2, The Who.

5, Sorry, Rush comes a distant third (and I have seen them four times).

Challenging thread, for those of us who are 'Fans'.

In ALL sincerity, my answer (to the INITIAL-Question), would be a RESOUNDING 'NO'

Tickets costs have spiralled dramatically......... Zeppelin tickets would be dear/expensive.........

Hassle of travelling/parking when I can see it on 'You-Tube' = result !!!!!!!!!!!!

I paid a meagre £ 2.50 to see Genesis in the mid 'seventies.......

Last year, I paid over £40 to see Dionne Warwick (indoor theatre) & Bryan Adams (outdoor open-air)

When I started playing Guitar back in the late-seventies, I was already a 'Hard-core' Zeppelin-fan, having bought 'Houses of the Holy' & 'Physical-Graffitti' when they were brand-new releases (then, 'Prescence', thereafter)

Jimmy Page was my main-influence on Guitar, beyond all-others - learning the chord strutures & progressions was hard & complex & gave me a MASSIVE respect for the guy's 'inventiveness'........
Learning to 'nail' "Over the Hills & Far Away" fluently was a buzz - so was playing "What Is & What Should Never Be" with 'my' band in front of 100 folks , live in Dec '79 - learning the awkward changes in "The Rain-Song" was a challenge I still find hard & brings massive-respect, as does the fun riffs in 'Black-Dog' (laughing, watching my teenage Son try to 'nail'-it, bringing his 'cockiness' down a peg or two !!!!!!!) or "The Ocean"
For the price of a ticket I could buy most of their C.D's for him, SO, despite my MASSIVE respect, NAH ! (getting old - I'm DEFINATELY "of a certain age", methinks !!!!!!!! )

Points 2,3 & 5, I LOVE 'RUSH' , Massive Lifeson,Peart,Lee fan here, taught numerous lads over the years to play "Spirit of Radio" & "Tom Sawyer", as well as tormenting-Son (ain't I cruel !) whilst teaching him the Harmonic-intro to "Red-Barchetta" (what a Track !).

I've seen a 'kazillion' bands in my time,TOO, before becoming 'boring' & choosing the 'metaphorical' Pipe & Carpet-slippers !!!!!!!!!!!

I saw Rush on the 'Signals' tour & 'Hold Your Fire' tour..... they were superb = outstanding, like Yes, on the '90125' tour

"Horses for Courses", so we have (at least) TWO 'RUSH' advocates here.... (& yes, I LOVE the Scorpions too, esp' the 'Lovedrive' album & the superb track "Loving You Sunday Morning", or previous tracks like "Make It Real".

Sorry Guys, I love Music MORE than Die-cast (BLASPHEMER, YOU SAY !) as my (USA) Fender Strat's, Gibson Les Paul & ',Jazz' basses are worth FORTUNES in comparison (& prob' much rarer !) & "closer to my heart" (only a Rush fan will get that twist !)
But ya caught me on my 'pet' subject & TBH, the Man (Jimmy-Page) who had such an input, initially to my most expensive hobby.......

So, I'll SAVE the Zep' ticket-money & buy a few Corgi Barton/Friday & Desert Halifaxes, instead !!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Re: Who would go see Led Zeppelin if they decide to tour?

Whilst during my tour in Iraq, I was able to see Montgomery Gentry. They were the only famous people I got to meet there. Everyone else was a normal dullard, much like myself.

We also got a visit from a Bulgarian singing group and a few unimportant, ubiquitous ex-Soviet bloc gov't offiicials (to include the girlfriend of the secretary of defence for Bulgaria, but not the man himself ). Unfortunately, I was unable to be graced with the presence of this traveling charade as I was out of the FOB that day.
