| Re: BAND OF BROTHERS' mystery planes?
Cheers Guys ! I'm telling ya Dragon53, from a distance they were SO lifelike !!!!!!!!! Only the painted insignia's gave 'em away (slightly) as, although the markings were correct - ANY a/c enthusiast 'worth their salt' could see that the special-effects/'props' guys had used the wrong shade of blue on the 'fuselage' national-insignia (star & bar). It was nearer to 'Cobalt-blue' than a 'Royal/Dark-blue' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than that (nitpicking) they looked superb & convincing from where the cameras were !!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna attempt to post a link to the actual Dakota that we parked next to.......... As we parked up next to it, the Dak's owner was concerned about the overspray - I told him I didn't care, as the paintwork on the wife's Ford-Escort was crap anyhow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. Gary & I watched in total amazement, as they used high-powered 'Jet-washes' to remove the soluable '9th A.F.' paint scheme !!!!!!! We were chatting to the Dak's owner & watched the inital spray-removal, before wandering over to the film-set. Believe it or not, but the ('Ex-wife's) old Ford-Escort is actually parked by the small 'Poplar'-tree, BEHIND the D.C.3's tail, as we just left it there & walked across (the airfield was literally deserted !!!!!!!) I'm amazed how the guy who took this photograph 'exorcised' our Ford-Escort (& was probably cursing !!!!!) but he didn't manage to 'eliminate' the nearby-Truck which is visible behing the tail..... Photos: Douglas DC-3... Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net I saw this picture about 18 months ago - & was so thrilled that at least somebody had snapped this up - as - looking back with the benefit of hindsight, I'm suprised just how little reference there is on 'the net' regarding the filming at North Weald !!!!!!!! | |||||||||||||||

| Re: BAND OF BROTHERS' mystery planes? I thought the Jadgpanthers were vis-mod 432s. They looked good but slightly smaller than the real deal. | |||||||||||||
