I am kind of surprised the SM 79 has not picked up more votes. For me it was a real close choice between the Hampden and the SM 79. The SM 79 would also look great if modeled carrying two torpedoes.

Re: Your #1 pick for WWII Medium Bomber

Not to take this thread too seriously, but the results are based on the choices submitted by the members who have chosen to participate. As of this time, there are less than twenty people submitting choices in this thread. There are over 850 members of this forum.
You may be right about the Hampden; I know that I would rather see a diecast Betty come along first. With that being said, unless the "vast majority" starts submitting their choices, we'll never know. You can only go by the votes actually cast...

I meant the vast majority of the members actually voting. I should have been more specific.

Even by the votes actually cast, it's still quite possible that an airplane can win while being the overall least-desired subject. Particularly with so few votes.

In any event, as Hornchurch pointed out, there's a fair chance the Hampden will be made by Corgi. And it is a historically significant aircraft. But... it's still a Hampden.

Talking Re: Your #1 pick for WWII Medium Bomber

Top Seed, J.P.N. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Top Banana !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still chuckling here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesting aside, I'm sure all the Brit's & Canucks on here want the...... er, 'Hampton' to win

Good news is - Corgi are Brit' orientated, so in reality the Hampden's prob' got 85% more chance of being made than the 'Flaming-Phallus' (Jap') !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Gee, TWO 'knob'-Gags for the price of ONE)

Just checkin' to see if you are still alive!! In this segment of the poll, I felt it more accurate that I vote for the Manchester, as somehow, I see that more as a 'medium' bomber, whereas the Hampden, in my logic, seems more of a 'light' bomber. No matter how you slice it, I would most certainly love to have one of each in my collection!! (Who knows -- given the speculated probability rate, we may also see a Stirling before a B-29 too? I'd sure love that action!)

I went with the Handley Page Hampton in the Medium section because my spotters guides from that period put it as a medium bomber. The Manchester on the other hand definitely falls under the category of a heavy bomber, but it was a big twin engine for sure.

Understandable -- especially when using reference of the era.
I think, at the end of the day, what we are trying to achieve is to send Corgi a clear message that says: "Hey -- there is a LOT of collectors interested in a Hampden, B-29, Stirling, that Black Widow-thingy, etc, etc, how about doing one up?" They won't care about the classification. Now whether they listen or not is anyones guess. I think Hornchurch is correct in assuming because of Corgi's heritage they may likely swing 85% in favour of UK aircraft. (Fine for me, but understandably annoying for our American forum colleagues)

Am I right, or am I right!!

Errr...I think you're right!
Actually, as an American, it doesn't bother me at all that since Corgi is a UK company, they will naturally favor either British built aircraft or foreign built aircraft that served in the UK.
It's too bad that there isn't any French, Russian, or Swedish companies like Corgi- then we could get all those MiGs, Mirages and Saabs that keep popping up in the wishlist threads!
