Re: Your #1 pick for WWII Heavy Bomber

Let's be honest, unless the wings are packed separately, the 1/72 B29 is just not going to happen!

I had a 1/72nd scale Cruver ID model of a B-29 a few years back, and it definitely was a large model. Weight of the model would be another interesting consideration, that much metal would have some serious heft to it. My thought is that Marushin did produce the Betty in 1/48th scale and size wise it is nothing to sneeze at either. Maybe sent broken down it might be possible to put out a B-29 in diecast. Personally it would not be a plane I would want to pick up, but from the responses so far, quite a few just might.

Good enough, go ahead and pack'em separately!

I should have perhaps said that it should be shipped in disassembled form - not 'packed separately'

If FM/A can make a 1/48 B-17 and B-24 in one piece, there's no reason whatsoever a 1/72 B-29 can't be made.

Thanks for the picking up on that. Allot easier if folks just put the plane they are interested in. Good catch though and if you pickup on any others, just let me know.

Thanks Cruver.......

Just wondering what you reckon, on 3 x 'potential' squandered votes.......??????

As we ALREADY have a Lancaster & B.17 available in numerous die-cast guises (& scales).

Can fully understand on guys being 'underwhelmed' with the relatively lame-looking B.29 in 1/144th.

I've ALWAYS thought that it's a non-starter as a 1/72.......given the very limited choice of just three basic colour-schemes........

( SILVER, OLIVE DRAB/GREY, & SILVER w/BLACK undersides - i.e. Korea)

Just wanna say that I LOVE the B.29 - fantastic piece of WW.II Technology, so I've nothing against it - quite the reverse !!!!!

I've got numerous books on the 20th A.F. - & there are PLENTY of nose-art choices....... but the a/c's overall scheme is basically limited to three types, making it a risky-venture for a manufacturer.

If one came out, I'd LOVE to see it in the markings of "Joltin' Josie - The Pacific-Pioneer" - a 20th A.F. 'bird'.
